LEAF was founded in 2008 by a group of Fremont residents under the leadership of Bruce Cates. Together, they had the vision of creating a community garden in the California Nursery Historical Park in Fremont's historic Niles district. LEAF negotiated a lease for half an acre of land with the City of Fremont while raising funds to design and build the community garden.
If you are aligned with our mission to promote healthy and sustainable living, we invite you to become a supporting member of our organization. Fremont Parent's Nursery School , Group B Feild Trip to LEAF (Local Ecology Agriculture Fremont) The Education Team, Elaine and Cheryl are wonderfully friendly scientists , knowledgeable and dedicated! We highly recommend scheduling a visit and perhaps becoming a member of this wonderful organization. To top it all off, they grow healthy food for donation to the Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank.
They are well prepared and flexible; two of the most important trait needed to create a memorable and fun experience especially for preschoolers. LEAF continues to be a feild trip must for our school

Fremont LEAF Center is a wonderful nonprofit organization that provides a community garden as well as developing greater sustainability and environmental awareness through collaborative teaching, learning and community dialogue about growing healthy food. In addition to growing food for the needy in the community and donating their harvest to organizations like Tri-City Volunteers food bank, LEAF also rents planters for those who want to grow their own food but do not have access to a back yard. LEAF also offers classes on topics ranging from irrigation, herbs, bees, and basic garden maintenance
