Happy to take your payment for items… not in much of a hurry to ship anything. Been waiting over 20 days for a “shipping quote”…

We purchased a sculpture of Buddha bust from Thomaston Place Auction Galleries and it is found to be a forged antique. Due to the verisimilitudinous forgery carried out on purpose, it has not been discovered immediately as a forged piece until a third party company was engaged to provide scientific authentication to this sculpture for its resale, after a while exhibiting in our gallery with extra care. We contacted with Thomaston Place Auction Galleries instantly, but they told us - 'If they had been contacted within the time period specified, a conversation about the concerns could have been had

Very disappointed!! I paid for items as soon as I recieved my invoice on Feb 11th. But did not recieve shipping details until feb 24th. I am totally blown away at the shipping cost, I did purchase pottery and expected it would be higher because of insurance but the total is 210.00 for shipping!!! I called and spoke with 3 people the 3rd person told me she is in charge, what a joke!!! I have never been more angry. I was told I am being charged for two hours of labor !! Two hours to package pottery !! And that they are charging me for two boxes and will not package them tother. When I spoke with

In my 45 years as a member of the coin dealing community, I have rarely suffered as thoroughly UNSATISFACTORY an experience as I recently endured at the hands of the Thomaston Place Auction Galleries. Two examples from a recent purchase:
1 -- The lesser of the problems: One of the coins I bought, a Morgan dollar, was severely damaged . . . yet the damage was NOT noted in the description. Now, in advertising and selling a coin as "BU," any cataloguer worth his salt is compelled to identify a serious deformity which would serve to diminish that coin's worth (in this case, to mere melt value). Auctioneer declined my bid registration “Because you have never bid with us before, we ask that you send us via PayPal a deposit of 20% of the low estimate of the items on which you intend to place bids.” I have been working on my museum during a very long time and this is a first experience like that.

OK - great items, but the shipping? The recommended shipper just sent me an estimate of $135 to mail a small mirror that cost me $60. This same shipper charged me $40 to mail a SPOON last year, so shame on me for thinking I might get a reasonable shipping quote. $35 for "packing materials" and $98 to send the mirror from Maine to Georgia. I am clearly in the wrong line of work if people can make that kind of money mailing stuff. I wanted the mirror for my bedroom, but now I'll be forced to sell it to recoup the shipping costs. I have just contacted 2 more companies requesting quotes. Hopefully

I had a very good experience with my purchase. The staff were friendly and helpful during the bidding process. The item I purchased was exactly as stated in the auction guide. I do not live in Maine and chose to use the shipper suggested by Thomaston. It allowed me to avoid state sales tax on my purchase. In addition, I didn’t have to get involved in coordinating the transfer of the item from the auction house to the shipper. Thomaston stressed that buyers had the option to use their own shipper. The shipping arrangements offered through Thomaston worked well for me.
