Kens Discount Building Materials opened in an old hamburger stand in March of 1972 with three stacks of plywood on consignment. In 1990 Ken and his wife, Dolores purchased their current location which boasts over 32,000 square foot of warehouse space and 20,000 square feet of showroom floor. Ken and Dolores manage the store together along with their daughter Kim and son-in-law Josh Smith.
Dolores is the store manager and with two assistant managers, a floor manager and about 35 more full and part-time employees. Ken, Dolores, Kim and Josh work hard to find you good deals on quality products. Ken believes his greatest company asset is the people who work for him. We offer key-cutting, lock re-key, glass cutting, pipe cutting/threading, blueprint estimating, paint color matching and more. Ken's Discount offers one of the largest key blank selections in the El Dorado area. Our key machines are calibrated within very close tolerance making our copies extremely accurate and will work flawlessly in the same lock as the first-generation original.

There store is very nice. I only went to rent one if their cabins while I was here on a job. They aren't much but for the price it is perfect. Everything worked and really the only problem was cooling down the bedroom, but I bought a fan and fixed that. Kitchen supplies have to be bought as well as toiletries of course. Towels and rags aren't provided but that's understandable as they don't know how long they will sit and go to waste. I recommend not spending too long in the shower as the hot water lasts for about 20min. So don't wash your hair and shower at the same time lol but I really liked
