Fine detail oriented trim and molding installation by a master carpenter. We supply and install classic finishing trim moldings for entire homes or one room at a time. Historic restoration carpentry and reproduction. Gordon the owner of Alter Eagle is a 30+ year experienced licensed master carpenter, completed an accredited apprenticeship with the Historic Commission and has Journeyman & Master Trade Qualifications.
I use a few basic rules used by carpenters for centuries. The "golden ratio" is a proportion based on nature used in ancient Greek temple design and later refined by the Romans. During the architectural renaissance those combined design elements became known as the "classical order". A scale using three main divisions; pedistal, column and entablature to define balance.
You can find the Golden Ratio in all corners of ancient architecture, literature, artwork and through out nature. Not all mantels can be designed to use the golden ratio but I personally find it a perfect place to start. The fireplace insert or existing firebox determines a lot of the design.
Then the mantel is scaled to how it fits in with the room, the type of mantel being used and if it will include side cabinets or overmantel with a panel or TV.Whether ancient Greeks were unconsciously influenced by the presence of the Golden Ratio in their natural surroundings first and were led to develop toward that proportion, or whether they discovered its beauty first and then chose to model after it we will never know.

Built with 3/4 maple ply and a solid face frame construction, we don't use particle board on any of our cabinets. Like the historical craftsman built-in cabinets the doors are hand made in my woodworking shop in the shaker style.
The Pergolas and Arbors in the examples are made with construction heart redwood. The Trellis uses kiln dried Western Red Cedar. They are custom made in the shop using hand selected redwood and sanded with routed edges and classic end details. Each is designed for it's location, oriented and built for the amount of shade you prefer.
