Services
D., is a board-certified Doctor of Audiology and founded Southbury Audiology in 1996. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology as well as her Master of Science Degree in Audiology from Penn State. She was the first graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry School of Audiology (now Salus University) Doctor of Audiology program in May of 2001.
At Southbury Audiology, we provide state-of-the-art diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological care for patients of all ages. As caring professionals, we strive to treat you as an individual, not as your hearing loss. We offer a range of comprehensive services and solutions to help you with all of your hearing needs.
We are currently operating on a limited schedule to protect all our patients and staff. We ask that all visits be by appointment only. At the time of your appointment, we ask that you please come with a protective face covering and are symptom free. We will be checking temperatures upon arrival and all staff will be wearing protective gear.
Today's hearing aid technology is incredibly sophisticated and can be customized to your unique hearing needs. Hearing aids now come in a wide range of styles and colors, including colors that match your personality or your skin tone or hair color.
All major manufacturers offer features that include noise reduction, speech enhancement, volume control, feedback cancelling, T-coils/loop options, Bluetooth connectivity, rechargeability, and accessories to meet your communication demands.We carry hearing aids from the major manufacturers including: EarQ, Oticon, ReSound, Signia, Starkey, and Phonak.

Hearing aids are not inexpensive. However, we do not want that to be the reason that someone does not get the care they deserve. When it comes to hearing aids, there is a price range that is dependent upon the level of technology. We will work closely with you to determine which hearing aids will be most appropriate while being mindful of your budget.

Dr. Bakewell is a pleasure to work with. She has built a great relationship with my son over the last 5 years & has made something very difficult seemingly stress-free for him. Southbury Audiology is both professional and empathetic to its patients' needs. We have been so pleased working with Dr. Bakewell and her staff. They are well versed in the technology for cutting-edge hearing aids and equipment. They also use the technology to keep connected with their patients by using telehealth and remote video conferencing to help with simple fixes.
