I’m not one to post… but this place is the absolute BEST. I have been going here since I moved to Madison and my sisters and mom from out of town now plan their travel to see me around their velvet eyebrow tinting appointments. Tracy and Maryna are my go-tos - absolute experts and also amazing humans. I cannot say enough good things about these women, their character, professionalism, and talent. For example, I recently forgot about my eyebrow appointment right before my wedding (bride brain) and Tracy graciously got me in at another time, and did her absolute best work to make me confident

Got a Brazilian with Lily W, I don't usually write reviews especially negative ones but I wasn't very happy with the wax. It was extremely quick but the hair wasn't waxed with its root so it started growing back a lot quicker than it usually does. It's only 3rd day and I'm seeing growth that I usually notice only by the end of the week from other Brazilian waxing experiences that I've had. The price is pretty high and I don't think it matches with the service. Really was looking forward to liking this place but unfortunately won't be coming back :(

Let me start off by saying by every aesthetician I have gone to for a variety of services at Velvet is beyond exceptional. All of the staff members are so genuinely kind and take the time to make sure that you are getting results that are up to your personal standards and the salon's high standards. Let me add that the studio is beautiful, well-decorated, and very very clean.
I have had my brows done by Megan, Tracy, and Lily and felt that with all three of them, my brows looked phenomenal after and that I was well taken care of.

Velvet is such a wonderful studio! I had the absolute best Brazilian wax with Maryna. She went above and beyond to talk to me about previous waxes (what went well and what did not) and she altered her wax based on that. They offer traditional hot wax, hard wax, and sugaring, so you can find the best for your skin. She was very thorough but still quick and as painless as a wax could be. She did her best to keep redness down while still making her she removed all the hair. I will continue to book appointments with her whenever I can - although all the girls at Velvet are wonderful.

By far the best waxing place in the area. Prices are a little hefty but they really do go above and beyond! I have had everything from brows, arms, brazilian and have had nothing short of good experiences. Online booking is very convenient. I highly recommend the sugar wax, not many places in WI use it and it really does make a difference.
Unfortunately I have moved out of the area but I continue to make appointment anytime I am back in town. Haven't found any waxing place that even compares to Velvet!

Best wax I've ever had! I was with Maryna, who was very sweet and knowledgeable. She helped me feel very relaxed and comfortable. This was honestly the least painful wax I've experienced. Maryna was careful and thorough. Maryna gave me some helpful information about skincare, recommending some products in an easy way that was not at all pushy. It's pricy but worth it, in my opinion. Cute, clean little place located downtown. There are 25-min meters outside and the woman at the front desk ran out to put another quarter in for me to make sure I had enough time. Great all around. I

Madison has lots of waxing options, but I will only go here! My favorite and best waxes have only come from Velvet. All of the technicians use great technique which is the most important to me. They make sure each hair is completely uprooted and not broken in the process (and if there are any stubborn one's they pluck tediously). They have hard wax if skin is too sensitive to regular. They focus on pampering using hot towels and soft fabrics etc. Each of the girls working there is sooo nice and are extremely professional, letting you set the pace for how conservative the whole process is.

I have visited Velvet Waxing for the last few years. I am furry but cannot afford to go as often as I would like. When I do go I am always impressed with quality of work done and the warmth of the staff. They are welcoming and just the right amount of "chatty".
For me Velvet Waxing is a treat and is well worth the money. I have tried some other places but have never been as satisfied as I am at Velvet.

Went here to get an underarm wax for my wedding and had a very lovely experience.
Their storefront is unassuming, but the inside is very chic and welcoming. The woman who did my waxing was very kind and professional, although she did make the mistake of assuming I was in for a brow wax (I get it, my eyebrows are fuzzy).
However, all was forgotten with her quick and tidy waxing job, which was relatively painless and actually kind of relaxing. She also gave me a complimentary trim and minor clean-up tweeze of the aforementioned fuzzy brows so I wouldn't have to do it myself. Saved me some

Although I was pretty satisfied with my 'Velvet' wax, I paid 50% more than I typically pay for a much more thorough (and painless) wax with my esthetician in New York. Although everything looked fine when I left the studio, I did have to do further clean-up with a pair of tweezers when I got home. However, for the options in the area, I think that the Velvet estheticians are still some of the best.
It helps that both waxers I have had so far have been friendly and conversational - which always makes dropping my pants in front of a complete stranger a little bit easier.
