VOC stands for 'Volatile Organic Compounds'. I could give you the fancy scientific definition but for our purposes regarding your floors let's keep it simple. It is the off gassing that occurs from chemicals that are applied as protective coatings to floors. The smell to put it very simply. It is measured in grams per liter or g/l.
The number one question I am asked by my clients and potential clients is how long will my floors last. This is a difficult question to answer for any professional hardwood flooring contractor. There are so many factors involved that it is almost impossible to give an accurate honest answer to this question.

Kudos to Michael, Nicole and the refinishing team for a spectacular job as can be best defined with the images attached!
We offered Ann Arbor Hardwoods a project that came with tight interior space requirements that was coupled with parking and other logistic constraints in a busy downtown environment, as well as an unforeseen refinishing materials glitch. Throughout it all this cohesive team overcame any and all challenges with the utmost management and craftsmanship professionalism. The communication with management and client was clear and simply helped efficiently streamline the project. As

We recently hired Ann Arbor Hardwoods to refinish our Read Oak Hardwood Kitchen Floor. It had been several years since we had done any work on the floor. There were scratches from kitchen chairs, water stains from a leaking skylight, and overall wear and tear all over the floor. It was in bad shape. From the very beginning of the process, Ann Arbor Hardwoods was professional, experienced, reliable, and competent. Michael took his time to explain their process and lay a foundation for what to expect. The craftsmen were personable, courteous, and exceptionally clean. There was minimal

AA Hardwoods did an amazing job refinishing the original oak floor in our home. I had previously done a "homeowner DIY" refinishing job on the floor in one room, so I thought I knew what was possible. Boy, was I wrong! They sanded and stained the floor (including the area I had attempted previously) and it looks like a new floor. Truly, I had no idea it could look this good. Their attention to detail was fantastic, they even noticed and repaired some splits and gouges in the wood that I had not even noticed before. The "dustless" system was incredible (MUCH less mess than my own experience with

Ann Arbor Hardwoods was AMAZING! They pulled out carpet in my living room, replaced it with new hardwood and then sanded ALL the hardwood flooring in my house. They stained it with the beautiful “Aged Barrel” stain!
Michael was professional & prompt with his response & explained the whole process in great detail. His crew was considerate and extremely efficient!
I would HIGHLY recommend Ann Arbor Hardwoods! I am 100% satisfied with the results/quality of their work and have received so many complements on my floors!!

Michael and the A2 hardwood crew installed new hardwood floors in my condo while also refinishing the existing flooring in the entryway. I'd seen their work at a few other residences and knew this is the contractor I wanted to go with.
They were professional, expedient and very detailed oriented. Michael is very much a detail person and wants everything to be perfect.
There are certainly cheaper alternatives to real hardwood installations but they're not remotely the similar quality and experience and if you want real authentic hardwood installed or refinished it's crucial you go with someone

My wife and I had Ann Arbor Hardwoods refinish the floors in our home, and we simply cannot explain in words how amazing they are (but I'll try).

We combined a full-house floor refinish (sand, stain, clear) with a kitchen remodel, and Michael was great about working with us on timing, which was important because after the floors were done, there was still some more work to do in the kitchen. He also did a good job sitting down with us and explaining the process, the materials they use (and why/how they differ from what many other hardwood refinishing companies use), and the timing (how long

We needed a company to refinish hardwood floors in our new Ann Arbor home, and were looking for a black/espresso finish to match our stairway. Michael was prompt, honest and professional during the consultation, and was competitively-priced. Then, he even agreed to give an estimate for painting our kitchen cabinets--which we eventually decided to do as well. We could not be more pleased with the end results. Both the floors and cabinets look INCREDIBLE! The guys on the crew were clean, courteous and friendly. They stuck to the time estimate, and kept us updated throughout. They even followed

We had their team sand and finish one room and 13 stairs and a landing. We were extremely impressed with the outcome, and especially with the team's concern that the job be done to the highest standards. They had to make repairs on our stairs and fill in holes before finishing, and essentially restored 100-year-old surfaces to look like new. We'd recommend them for any flooring work.
