After 20 years at the Smithsonian my husband and I had plenty of wonderful t-shirts stored away. I wanted to have a quilt made, so my husband helped me pack up all his T-shirts. Not long after he was killed in a car accident. I returned to my home after his death to find a wonderful quilt. Now I'm able to sleep beneath his T-shirts every night.
Our memory quilt is of our daughter's cancer journey. Heather was 21 when she was diagnosed with an ultra-rare form of cancer and died weeks before she would have turned 26. Her quilt reminds us of her strength and humor as well as being an ongoing symbol at all our American Cancer Society Relay for Life events of her legacy.

That first quilt was radically, but simply different from any other T-shirt quilt of the time. No sashing was used in between the shirts, allowing the eye to flow from one T-shirt to another. When do you stop going to college? It took Andrea an undergrad degree in Communications, a Master's in Communications, a Master's in Graphic Design, a Military Journalism degree and a CPCU insurance degree to decided enough is enough.
By visiting our pricing page you can determine how many T-shirts you will need for the size quilt you would like. Please either view our video or read our written instructions on how to mark what part(s) of your T-shirts you would not like used. Then print out and fill in the order form. If you have special instructions please write them on the order form or include them with the order form on a separate sheet of paper.
On your order form you will find the name, address and phone number for your quilter. Please call your quilter before you mail your T-shirts so she can be watching for your box to arrive. Before you ship your T-shirts, please email your quilter and let her know that you are sending in your T-shirts and understand that your quilt will be completed after the first of the year.

It can help!. Please note that sizes can be in between standard sizes. All quilt sizes are divisible by 4. The cost of a non-standard size will be calculated for you based on our underlying formulas.
It's hard to say! It all depends on your specific T-shirts. The list here is only an approximation of the number of T-shirts, sweatshirts or other clothing items it may take to make a quilt of that size. You may need more T-shirts if the designs on your T-shirts are small. Or you may need fewer if the designs on your T-shirts are big.

I cannot recommend Too Cool Quilts enough! From beginning to end my experience was wonderful. Clear instructions, fast and responsive communication, very reasonable pricing considering all the work it takes to make a quilt, and absolute perfection in the final result. I had 20-ish tshirts/sweatshirts that they turned into a lovely one-sided 64x80 quilt. The way they cut and placed the designs is so thoughtful and pleasing to the eye. After lots of research, I decided to have Too Cool make my daughter's dental school graduation gift - a quilt from her substantial T Shirt collection. I ended up with one king size quilt and a large lap quilt. Both are absolutely beautifully executed and extremely soft and functional. I got these done during the pandemic Summer of 2020. I was not trusting the mail services, so I drove out to Andrea's shop in Charlotte for drop off and pick up. Hats off to Chris and her team for creating a wonderful quilt. Jokingly refer to it as my Covid quilt. The result of downsizing and decluttering during lockdown. I love that the designs are custom cut and not… restricted to a set size and seeing memories. It’s currently prominently displayed on my sofa and looking forward to using it when the weather cools off. Thanks again for a great quilt.

Love this company. I ordered a double-sided king with a pillow. I had about 160 shirts total which were military & travel shirts. I did have to get a second pillow made to use up all the shirts I sent. The website had all the information I needed to lookup and I called to ask a couple of questions as well. The ladies are so fully of joy and pleasant persona was a blessing to deal with. I sent the t-shirts in June 2020 and expected the products back in December 2020. I just received my quilt and am blown away at how beautiful it is. Looking at the web site and seeing all the options available, I was a bit overwhelmed. I put lots of notes on the shirts and shipped them. I am very happy with the end result. I will be shipping another group of shirts very soon. Highly recommend them.
