A customer of mine wanted to recover her beloved sectional. This custom made sectional not only fit her space but it had an emotional importance as well. My customer raised her children on this sectional and now was expecting a second grandchild. She wanted a fabric that fit her lifestyle but also would allow her grand kids to enjoy themselves on.
A customer of mine brought in some side chairs she wanted refinished and upholstered. We selected a nice fabric from Greenhouse fabrics and after refinishing the frames I added all new padding and then the new covers. The chairs look very elegant with the dark walnut finish and a Van Dyke Brown coating of spray lacquer.
The camper has been sitting in my shop for year waiting for me to get to it. I will say that my customers have been more than patient. The reason for the delay is that I needed the entire shop space for this project and did not want to be distracted by other jobs. Working on this during my slow period allows me to really enjoy the work.
The Irish Mist required new cushions for the v-berth, dining area and a for a new sleeping area under the cockpit. The original cushions were made of some light weight cotton type fabric which had a distinctive mildew smell. The foam had the same smell so new foam was going to be required. I wanted a fabric that not only would be easy to take care of, but had built in protection against stains, moisture and mildew.
When you have your fabric recovered you have a wider selection of materials to choose from. I do not work by completion dates due to the fact that some jobs take longer than planned, or I may get sick or hurt. All dates given will be approximate and subject to change based on circumstances that may be out of my control.
