Caring is our reason for being. At Stevens Community Medical Center, our vision is to strive for excellence through compassionate patient-centered care. Qualified providers, technology, and active promotion of health education helps nurture this vision. You won't just find a skilled healthcare team, you'll find your friends, neighbors, and family.

The passion for caring is deeply rooted in our employees. We are SCMC, caring for you. I've delivered two babies with Dr. Barnstuble there and both experiences have been excellent! We receive all of our primary care there and are always treated with kindness and respect. The hospital staff (administration, nursing, kitchen, all of them) made us feel so much at home and were beyond amazing to both of us.
Services
Stevens Community Medical Center strives for excellence in providing high quality healthcare. We are committed to improving the health of the people we serve through collaboration, safety, technology and education. Stevens Community Medical Center traces its roots to three small area hospitals which opened after the turn of the century.
The Courage Cottage is an assisted-living home-like setting owned by a non-profit healthcare organization (SCMC) that relies on fundraising efforts to meet operating expenses. Our goal is to keep resident fees affordable so that services are available to everyone. To make this possible, we have a variety of fundraisers each year but we welcome donations at any time.
We strive to continually stay up to date with current technology and make sure our practices meet the needs of our patients and surrounding community. In addition to general radiology services, Stevens Community Medical Center is unique that it has its own on-site radiologist that reviews the images and then sends the report to your ordering provider, who will then contact you with the results.
We offer an easily accessible full-service lab department at SCMC with or without provider orders. Our Direct Access Lab is a quick and inexpensive way to get a lab test without a physician's order. It allows today's health-conscious consumers to quickly and easily access lab testing without making an appointment.
Our procedure area was designed with our patients in mind. We offer our patients and their families outstanding care in a private personal setting. Procedures offered include echocardiograms, treadmills, and medicated treadmills. We also offer flexible sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopies, and upper endoscopies.

I went to the ER because of an allergic reaction and it was over 2 hours before I received treatment. The moved me to the Urgent Care, it took 30 minutes for them to input my personal information, they didn’t input insurance info correctly, and the staff was unfriendly.

My general care practitioner is great. Her name is Cara Nachbor and I highly recommend her. She truly cares about making sure my needs are met and makes sure to give good follow up after appointments. I haven't had a negative experience with reception or anything else so far at this hospital.
I also once had to make an urgent care trip due to a pilonidal cyst. I was promptly helped and had a positive experience with the surgeon they assigned me that day, and received good post treatment care in that case as well.

I have not had the greatest experience with urgent care/ER docs. I always felt like I was being written off/not taken seriously except when I went in while I was pregnant.
However my birthing experience was overall good, and my regular doctor, Dr. Barnstuble is excellent! Barnstuble helped me figure out a health issue that the ER doc had just written off as constipation and really listened and was willing to answer any questions I had and run through every theory! He ran tests and tried a medication that ultimately proved to be very helpful. He treats you like family so you know you are getting

I've had both fantastic experiences and bad experiences with SCMC, thus a 4 star review.
I recently hurt my foot and the treatment I got from Dr. Gibson and the physical therapy office has been superb. All of the professionals have explained what was going on in my foot and used clear language. I highly recommend Dr. Gibson and Megan Erickson for podiatry and physical therapy services.
A few years ago I spent the night in ER, and the next morning Dr. Burke was my attending doctor. After looking at my urine analysis for drug tox, he told me point blank that "I need to stop partying so much." It

They sent me home with someone else's private medical documents stapled to my own appointment summary. None of the doctors I've had seem to know what they're doing. They've given me multiple misdiagnosis and have pushed for expensive irrelevant tests.

We were very pleased with the nursing staff at the hospital. They gave my mom personal attention and were very caring. Tina from the food service was also very personal and attentative to her dietary needs and tastes.

If you're thinking about calling and scheduling an appointment, prepare to be patient, because they will hang up on you, switch calls without warning, and not even check for available appointments for you. Sometimes, the appointment desk will be "closed" during what is supposed to be its business hours. The staff are self centered, judgemental, rude and ineffective in making the right treatments.
