Your regularly scheduled check-up is often referred to as a "cleaning", but there is much more to it than that! The technical term is oral prophylaxis, which means prevention of oral disease. One way to prevent oral disease is to remove harmful plaque and tartar (calculus) both above and below the gum line.
What most people call X-rays are actually X-ray photographs (also known as radiographs). An image is made using X-rays, which are similar to sunlight, but of a shorter wavelength, and able to show us what's below the surface of a tooth. Even though we call them X-rays, we are actually referring to the image created by X-rays.
A beautiful, healthy smile that lasts a lifetime is our ultimate goal when treating patients. Your personal home care plays an important role in achieving that goal. Your personal home care starts by eating balanced meals, reducing the number of snacks you eat, and correctly using the various dental aids that help control the plaque and bacteria that cause dental disease.

I would not go to this dentist again. They made a mistake about a procedure for my husband. He needed an heavy duty cleaning and even put it through the insurance which denied it before they even did the procedure. I told them to hold off on anything that had a waiting period. They asked if I wanted to schedule a cleaning so I made sure with them that a regular cleaning was ok because it was covered 100%. They did the cleaning and did the debridement cleaning which was not covered. My mistake is even though I verified with them they were doing a regular cleaning I did not ask for the exact code
