We believe that immersing children in community building, Jewish values and nature helps them become their best selves. They use the experience of Tawonga to make the world a better place. After an eventful and memorable Camp season, we are already looking ahead to next summer! Check out our 2022 programs, including a return to our traditional four Camp session structure, teen programs, and Adventure Quests.
Jordan Daniels reflects on the powerful experience of joining Tawonga's Jewish Families of Color Weekend in September: Many stories written by Jews of Color, including myself, discuss our 'othered' experiences in Jewish spaces. But we also have stories of belonging - where we can just be - and with places like Camp Tawonga, they're finally being written.

Services
For 95 years, Camp Tawonga has served as a leader in Jewish camping, fostering in children and families a deep connection to nature, community and Judaism. We run programming for children, families and young adults at our stunning residential campsite next to Yosemite National Park and in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Tawonga's year-round staff and Board of Directors make up the central team that creates the magic of Camp. Our growing year-round team is dedicated, highly talented and hard-working. This group plans and executes Tawonga's program offerings up and down the mountain and so much more. Most of us work in San Francisco while our Buildings & Grounds crew maintains our campsite near Yosemite.
Leaders of the San Francisco Jewish community founded Camp Tawonga. Their goals were simple: send children to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to make friends, have fun and escape the cold summers of San Francisco. Over time, these week-long rustic adventures evolved as Tawonga's programming grew in quality and popularity.
Read below for information about registration, financial options and 2022 program dates and rates. Feel free to contact us with any questions about which program is right for your child or family at 415.543.2267 or info@tawonga.org. We may make exceptions for campers outside of the listed grades. Please reach out to our registrar with questions: 415.543.2267 or registration@tawonga.org.
We believe that a loving, inclusive Jewish community gives children a chance to gain self-confidence, explore their spirituality and discover the truest versions of themselves. More compassion, acceptance of others and a desire to repair our world - that's our mission. Since 1925, Tawonga's four-part mission has fostered high self-esteem, enduring community, tikkun olam and positive Jewish identity.

Our daughter attended Tawonga for two and a half weeks. It was her first time at sleep away camp, though not her first time staying away from home without her family.
She arrived home exhausted. She said that the schedule had the kids in her bunk out until 10pm, then waking up at 6:45am. My daughter said she repeatedly asked the counselors if she could go back to the bunk early, but was never allowed to do that. She mentioned that on a couple of occasions she fell asleep during the activity when it was a campfire. She also learned on the first day that she was originally supposed to be in a different

Don't hesitate to send your child. Mine was reluctant to go, dreading it even, but she just returned from the one week "taste of camp" program and couldn't be happier about her experience. The staff is warm and helpful; the camp director is communicative and lovely. The daily blog posts showed what an amazing and special

Camp Tawonga really is a magical place... they really do live the values they espouse on their website. It's about community, it's about joyful Judaism, it's about being your best self...and it's about a wonderful group of kids and counselors and leaders coming together to have a ton of fun in beautiful setting! I was so incredibly moved witnessing how beautifully they handled the sad fire situation this summer when they had to cancel the last session of camp. Everyone came together in an amazing way... they were true "mensches" all around! Tawonga is a very special
