Services
Cerumen, or earwax, can be removed from the ear canal so that it does not interfere with listening or comfort, especially for individuals who wear hearing aids. Not all amounts of wax impact hearing and/or testing. Your provider will ensure your ear canals are clear prior to any procedures being performed.
Cerumen, also known as earwax, is GOOD; it is naturally produced by the glands in the ears to lubricate the ear canals and keep dust and debris from getting too far down in the ear canal. Cerumen typically clears itself from the ears as it migrates outward with your skin, but in some instances can accumulate and cause a blockage, especially if you wear earmolds or hearing aids.
If you have been referred for a diagnostic audiologic evaluation, it means that your hearing needs to be further examined. A diagnostic audiologic evaluation may be indicated for individuals who did not pass an initial hearing screening. The evaluation is done to determine if a hearing loss is present and, if so, to detail the type and severity of the hearing loss.
Vertigo, dizziness, and balance problems can be life altering. For many people it can affect their ability to do even the simplest daily tasks. If you are experiencing vertigo or balance issues, your primary care provider may want to refer you for an inner ear balance (vestibular system) evaluation with an Audiologist.
There are several steps that are part of a hearing aid evaluation. If you suspect that you might need a hearing aid, you will first need to have a hearing evaluation. At the time of the hearing evaluation, a case history will be taken to determine how much your hearing problem impacts your day-to-day life as well as the lives of your family.

I had been struggling for a long time with my hearing. The staff here was great! Good range of options. It turns out I had a little infection too which they took care of the same day. Great service after as well!

After dealing with another provider, I was so relieved when I made it to the Fairbanks Hearing and Balance Center. They were professional from the start and I could not have been taken care of better or had a better experience than with this practice. Absolute 5 stars.

The hearing aids I got from Fairbanks Hearing and Balance Center improved my quality of life more than anything in years, and improved my wife’s quality of life even more. The care I’ve received from everyone there, from Dr. Hammond to every audiologist and tech person, has been extraordinary. It is a great comfort to know I’m receiving not only state of the art equipment, but state of the art care. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Dr. Kim evaluated me for serious hearing loss in one ear. He counseled me about the various options in hearing aids.Dr. Kim and his entire staff saw me as an individual with unique circumstances rather than just some guy who needed any old, expensive hearing aid parked in his ear. The manner in which they were able to tweek and fine tune the hearing aid was beyond sophisticated. After getting the hearing aids, I realized just how exhausted and tired I had been previously trying to hear subtleties in business meetings.

I'm greatly frustrated with Fairbanks I'm I'm greatly frustrated with Fairbanks Hearing.
I'm 80, don't drive often, can't in the dark, and leaving in a few hours for a two week trip to Georgia and have a replaced $300 (thanks to insurance) hearing aid that falls out. First, when i lost my original aid the wrong one was there when i went to pick it up. When i went back the third time the new hearing aid that had been paired with the original one was handed to me; no fitting or anything.
Back at home when it fell out twice with no activity, I was told to come down and they could put a wire on it

Not impressed with my care. Spoke with the nurse about my health and she ordered all my proceeding tests. She reached a certain conclusion about my health and voiced her opinion before they'd even performed any tests even though 3 other specialists had already ruled out that issue. The doctor came in with a diagnosis already in hand and never asked me any questions or did any kind of evaluation himself. He told me to go to a different specialist. My visit with him lasted all of 5 minutes. Had to go all the way to Anchorage to find an ENT to repeat the tests correctly. Don't be fooled by the name
