Brunner Funeral Home
Our funeral home has been serving the communities of North Tonawanda, Tonawanda, Wheatfield, Pendleton and Amherst for over 73 years. As one of the oldest continually owned family funeral homes in the community, we are proud to say that we are "A Special Place to Honor Someone You Love". We offer the largest visitation rooms in the community and are able to serve large families easily.

Our Caring Staff is here to serve your needs, 24 hours a day. It is not always possible to pay respects in person, so we hope that this small token will help. It's hard to know what to say when someone experiences loss. Our free weekly newsletter provides insights, quotes and messages on how to help during the first year.

The Brunner Funeral Home was started by William Brunner, Jr. in 1947 after serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. The funeral home was opened in his father's home where it is to this day. Bill Brunner was really great at swinging a hammer. He put one addition after another on the funeral home until he retired in 1986.
Obituaries act as quiet reminders of the finite nature of our lives. Yet, for those who have recently experienced the death of a family member or friend, an obituary means so much more. It is a bittersweet reminder of all we've lost, but it can also help us to remember all we enjoyed while they were alive.
G. K. Chesterton wrote, Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die. The men and women who served in the armed forces, whether during a time of war, or one of peace, are living examples of that contradiction. Each should be honored and remembered, so that our gratitude never fades.
All we need to do is say the word "funeral" and within microseconds, you have an image in your mind of what a funeral looks like. This mental image comes from many sources: the geographical place, culture and society in which we live; our faith; our life experience.

Obviously then, a funeral service in Borneo would look very different from one held in Tanzania; there are even significant differences between the funerals held in ethnically and/or geographically diverse regions of North America.Yet, despite the differences, these funeral services have much in common.
A funeral service, whether traditional or more modern (memorial service or celebration-of-life), has two functions: to acknowledge the death and lifetime achievements of an individual and to bring grieving family members and friends together in support of one another during this difficult time. If you are interested in making funeral arrangements for a loved one, we invite you to call us to begin.
