Montana is an ideal area for generating electricity either by sun or wind. We are lucky to enjoy reliable and consistent sunshine and in many areas powerful wind. The primary reason renewable energy systems do not have a larger presence in Montana is our historically low cost for utility electricity.
In 1997 the State Legislature deregulated Montana's energy market and as a result most energy consumers in the state have seen their electricity bill begin to rise. As utility rates go up and costs for renewables go down more grid connected people will consider making their own power joining the hundreds of Montanans who own property away from the grid and/or value the reliability and independence of producing their own power.

Services
Sundance Solar Systems can provided virtually any solar or wind energy product to our customers. We continue to research available technologies and products for function, reliability, warranty, and price and offer our recommendations for on and off-grid applications. Currently our choice for off-grid or grid-tie backup systems is the Outback Power line of inverters, charge controllers, and balance of system components.
An off-grid system is designed around the estimated electrical load consumption both with production (solar array) and storage (batteries). Most off-grid systems incorporate a generator for backup. The generator can be configured to automatically start when needed. A grid-tie system does not use batteries and does not provide utility backup.
As a Northwestern Energy Qualified installer Sundance Solar Systems LLC has access to grants administered by the Universal Systems Benefits program of NWE. These grants are available to non-profits, schools, and other government facilities. Until 2019 the Federal government offers a 30% tax credit against the purchase of a renewable energy system.
