Iowa CareGivers, founded in 1992 by a former nursing assistant, exists to ensure that all Iowans receive good care and support when and where they need it. Iowa CareGivers Programs prepare those in direct care to serve the needs of Iowans by being: Prepared, Connected, Informed, and Empowered. During the pandemic, we have dedicated our efforts to addressing the safety, protections, & wellbeing of frontline caregivers.

We will not rest until all who work in direct care receive the education, compensation, and respect they need and deserve! Nor will we rest until all Iowans have access to high quality care and support when and where they need it. The bottom line.access to good care isn't possible without those who provide most of the direct hands on care.
The Iowa CareGivers, an independent nonprofit (501(c)(3)), was founded in 1992 in response to the growing concerns about the shortage and high turnover rates of those who work in direct care such as Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) and Home Care Aides (HCAs).

We offer valuable insight into first-hand experience and knowledge that guides the activities and decisions of the IC Board. We share concerns, identify solutions, and take steps to change the way that people think and talk about direct care.
