Civic Garden Center Of Greater Cinti
Our mission is building community through gardening, education and environmental stewardship. Founded in 1942 out of the Victory Garden movement, we are THE place to go in Cincinnati to learn about gardening, sustainability, and horticulture. We are located at 2715 Reading Road on the former estate of Cornelius J. Hauck, Hauck Botanic Gardens.

Here we host classes, a horticultural library, several gardens for visitors to enjoy free of charge, the Green Learning Station and an outdoor compost classroom; the building and grounds are available for event and meeting rental.
Services
To reach a member of our staff, please call our main line, 513-221-0981 and ask for their extension or by name. A native of a rural farming community in northwest Ohio, Karen has spent more than 30 years writing grants and working in development for a variety of good causes in southwest Ohio.

Karen worked previously as the Director of Development and Community Relations for the Corporation for Findlay Market, SUMA and as a Development Specialist for the Butler County Community Grant Consortium.
The grounds of the Civic Garden Center and Hauck Botanic Gardens are free to the public so explore as Mr. Hauck intended or follow some of our guided maps. The Peggy MacNeale Daffodil Collection includes many Narcissus selections, both heirloom and new. It is named in honor of the original director of the Civic Garden Center.
The Hoffman Library is one of four horticultural libraries in Ohio with over 2600 books, and free gardening catalogs. This tranquil space is ideal for relaxing and observing the garden beyond the picture windows. The Hoffman Library is proud to offer some of the best-loved books for children on the topic of gardening as well as new ones about composting, bugs, and other subjects intended to encourage children to enjoy all the garden has to offer.
For nearly 40 years CGC has been working with neighborhood residents and community-based organizations to create community gardens as well as providing technical support and advanced training in growing fruits and vegetables using organic practices. Our goal is to not only to start community gardens but to provide ongoing support so they will be sustainable and thrive into the future.
Are you looking to get involved in a Community Garden? Please contact the Garden Coordinator with any questions you have about that specific garden or if you'd like to become a member of that garden. If you are unable to reach a Garden Coordinator, please email info@civicgardencenter.org or give us a call at 513-221-0981.

This is such a beautiful place to be. The vegetable garden is lovely every year, I'm always excited to see what is planted. I love the japanese style garden, its secluded and relaxing. I always make sure to check out the bee box. It would be hard to find a more beautiful garden.

This is a small park with a variety of gardens spread out inside. In the summer time there are a lot of hydrangeas that bloom inside the small Japanese garden. Little gem in the northern part of Cincinnati.

It is a lovely venue for parties, a wonderful place to go to learn more about native plants, and a lovely oasis in the middle of the busy city.
