I have worked as an Marriage and Family Therapist for over 30 years, counseling children, families, couples and adults of all ages, in private practice, public and private schools, and various treatment programs in California and Arizona. Currently I am located in Sedona, Arizona, where I have a private practice.
Often, when something traumatic happens, it seems to get locked in the nervous system with the original picture, sounds, thoughts, feelings, and so on. Since the experience is locked there, it continues to be triggered whenever a reminder comes up. It can be the basis for a lot of discomfort and sometimes a lot of negative emotions, such as fear and helplessness, that we can't seem to control.
No matter what problems your child [ages 6 to 18] or young adult [18+] is experiencing, I can help you find solutions to help your child get back on track. I have worked with adolescents for many years, at various schools and family agencies in Arizona and California, and continue to work at a local high school in the Verde Valley.
Change is inevitable. After 14 years of working in my office at the Anasazi Building, it was time to move, for a variety of reasons. I have found a wonderful new location, in a much upgraded building. The space is smaller than I had before, which has allowed me to downsize and upgrade at the same time.
