For a couple of years, this group worked diligently to research all available resources and then to work as a Board of Directors to apply for the Federal HRSA 330 grant funds available to open a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). In July/August of 1995, the first five staff members were hired.

Horrible experience I WILL NOT be bringing my kids here ever again! I waited months for an appointment for my son paperwork, was lost, wrong birth dates put in the system. Was turned away and told to reschedule TWICE due to "covid guidelines" when I had negative covid results on hand from 2 days prior...and was still told I had to reschedule.

I am a patient with the behavioral health part of this center. I have been trying to reach my dr for a month. I have left messages with the front office staff and also emailed my dr and have been told they would call me back. I haven’t gotten any response. My meds aren’t working. This is very unprofessional. If I was suicidal due to meds not working then it would be in their hands....

I don't understand why people complain so much about getting super cheap health and dental care. The people here have been wonderful in helping me fix my teeth. There is a wait sometimes but you will get seen and they do a great job. I absolutely hated going to the dentist before this place. Now it's no problem at all. They send me a link to check in online and they're ready when I get there. Everyone has been polite to me and has helped me out. You definitely get much better service than what you pay for. Thank you everyone at KCHC!

Every since I became a patient here, I have experienced nothing but caring, knowledgeable, and patient doctors. It was here that I found out I had Breast Cancer. Due to me not having insurance I am limited when it comes to medical care, especially GOOD medical care. Kinston Community Health Center has really been a God Send.

I have been going here for my dental care for nearly two years now, after a 10 year stint of not seeing a dentist due to my anxiety/fear. My first appointment was as an emergency and all the ones after were scheduled. I have never had to wait long in the waiting area, maybe slightly longer in exam room, but I also understand it is the "community center". The dentist I see here is absolutely amazing, he is always patient, kind and smiling.

I've been seeing Dr. Jennifer Roberson here for many years and she's a Great doctor. If she had her own office I would continue to see her, but the Kinston Community Health Center that's an entirely different story, I've had ENOUGH! You can't get an appointment when you need it, u usually end up having to wait several month for an application time and when you get there for that appointment don't be in any hurry because the wait time in usually a couple of hours then you wait another hour once you get put in a room to see a doctor. When you call you can't ever get anything done that you need done

The worst experience I have ever had at a dentist. We waited 6 weeks for that appointment, when we got there - 30 minutes early 'to fill out paperwork' - we waited for over an hour after our appointment time before it was "our turn". Then they wanted to demand that I wait in the lobby on the other side of a locked door from my 12 year old daughter while she was with the 'doctor'. I refused treatment for my child and we left, after wasting most of the afternoon in a filthy waiting room dealing with disrespectful employees. I will never take my children back into that place.
