At Middle Tennessee Lumber, we don't shy away from an honest day's keep because we still believe we are what we make. For hundreds of years, millers were rooted in their craft. They knew the weight, feel and smell of quality lumber. That's the standard we still hold ourselves to today. The sawdust on our coats and calluses on our hands are signs of the satisfaction we take in creating a beautiful, handcrafted product.

Back in the 1930s, founder Bill Cockrall operated a sawmill on Cleveland Street in downtown Nashville. As business grew, he expanded with two additional mills on the city's outskirts. Word of the Appalachian timber spread and its demand required a move to our current 22-acre location in Burns, Tennessee.
Services
Our commitment to providing you with the best lumber comes naturally with our surroundings. Appalachian hardwood is the most sought-after lumber in the industry. And because of the regeneration and forest management in the Appalachian region, our timber supply is always stable. For every tree harvested, 2.45 trees are grown so there is no compromising the needs of future generations.
The best floor is a flat floor. Our corkscrew sticks, weighted cover tops and kiln-drying make sure the boards don't cup, crown, bend, twist or bow during the drying process. This result is flooring as flat as it is wide and straight as it is long. While lumber manufacturing has changed over the decades, we feel like there are some things that shouldn't.
While many lumber mills focus only on large orders to bring in revenue, we treat every order with the same importance no matter the size. Our moulding program is designed to fill all sizes of orders by keeping a large stock of moulder blanks. With our moulder blank inventory on hand, we can quote small runs as fast as we'd respond to large runs.

These guys are Great! I am a retired woodworker who doesn't make big buys and they treat me royally unlike other yards that find small buyers irritating. It's a bit of a drive out 40 from Nashville, but well worth the trip.
