Papo's Cafe is a locally owned and operated cafe in Springfield, Illinois serving made-from-scratch breakfast, lunches, desserts and hand-crafted coffee drinks. At first I was looking for a place to just sit down and grind out my homework. I went into papos and ordered a bagel and a i think it was a marshmallow latte and I kid you not it was the best decision I made. The workers there were so friendly and loving. The interior was so soothing and physically appealing. I was there for hours doing homework and absolute loved it for anyone who needs to get away or really focus this is the place to go. Also their food was amazing on top of that

The Santa Fe Bowl is a tasty breakfast dish, a clever creation with egg, chorizo, and potatoes but it has to be served much hotter, heat that is. The potatoes were cold, the rest of the ingredients were warm, not hot enough. Coffee is delicious tho miss the porcelain cups. Paper cups are great for carry out. Staff always friendly. Have eaten here many times and food has been very good.

Delicious bold coffee and healthy food at reasonable prices! Pretty much the best caramel latte I’ve ever had - Starbucks or Dunkin don’t come anywhere close to this coffee!
All of the sandwiches are great, and taste unique because they often come on an everything bagel instead of bread.
Definitely stop by this place when around Springfield!

This place has a nice atmosphere and the building is pretty but some of the worst coffee I've ever had. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte and it basically just tasted like warm skim milk. Not a hint of pumpkin. And it was not even hot. The medium brew coffee didn't even taste like coffee and it was just lukewarm. I got a blueberry muffin that was good but The person who brought it out to me had their mask under their nose so that defeats the purpose of wearing a mask in the first place. Definitely won't be returning to this place. I can make better coffee at home

New favorite lunch spot! Nice atmosphere, the temperature inside was comfortable. Friendly staff. I have tried the BLTA and The Cali (my favorite). Made with very fresh ingredients. Also they have massive cinnamon rolls and a really nice brunch menu. Not a lot of places in Springfield to find good brunch. Give them a try!

The atmosphere, the coffee, and the food are all SO GOOD! Very modern feel. Love the additional den/lounge area they have with lounge chairs and a fireplace. I had the frappe with mint flavor and the chipotle Turkey wrap. Drove from Champaign as Champaign county is currently closed for dine in, and this was definitely worth the drive! Definitely will be a new favorite spot!

Went there this afternoon for my son's birthday lunch nobody was wearing gloves no one was wearing masks
Also, they messed up our orders. My son asked for no bacon with his wrap but they put bacon in it and I asked for the turkey bagel which was supposed to come with the avocado it had no avocados!
Stay away -- not safe and bad food. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

I used to love this place...until today. I specifically asked the staff if there was bacon in their jalapeño cheddar cream cheese and I was assured that there was not. I get home and there is not only bacon in the cream cheese, but also MOLD. HAIRY MOLD! The to-go container of cream cheese did not have a date on it, so who even knows when it was packaged... (I also asked for a toasted bagel and it was not even toasted....AND my coffee was burnt)
I called and spoke with the manager and was told to come back in to receive my refund. I drive another 20 minutes back to papos, and the manager says

I have to update my review. We came here three times in three days while visiting Springfield. It is a so much better option than Starbucks. The coffee is actually good. All the pastries are good. The breakfast bagels are much better than 'bucks. The weekend cinnamon rolls are a real treat. The pumpkin turnover is not like a dessert, but filled with excellent pumpkin. So glad we found it on Yelp.

1st time here, walked in and pleasantly surprised how nice and inviting this place is. Decor is definitely an upscale design with a lot of thought put into it. There is a room off to the right which is set up like a comfortable lounge. To the left is general seating area with enough tables to accommodate people comfortably. Straight back of the store is the main order counter. Have to say this is a lot nicer than Panera without a doubt. I ordered the spicy biscuits and gravy made with cheddar & Jalapeno biscuits cover in spicy chorizo gravy. Very good. I see many return trips as the menu seems

My husband and I found out about this place and had to try it. The place was so busy we almost didn't get a table. I had the latte and my husband had single origin Costa Rican. To eat he had oatmeal and a cinnamon muffin. While I had the mixed berry scone and blueberry muffin. This was all we ate today. Now yesterday WOW the biscuits and gravy and splitting that monster cinnamon roll was so good.Which I have included for your enjoyment those pictures. The atmosphere is quaint and makes you feel welcome. The waitress are very sweet and go out of there way to help you as well.

All sandwiches were very tasty lots of flavor. Mac & cheese was phenomenal. Pasta salad didn't taste like store-bought had really good flavor. Ordered the bloody Mary bar. Once I tasted the Bloody Mary I decided not to add anything because it was fantastic the way it was.
Red velvet cookie was not bad.
Pecan bar had a nice flavor with a unique texture.
The cupcake was AMAZING! Nice and moist with perfect icing.
I spent a little more then I wanted to initially, however, we ordered a bunch of different things to try. We enjoyed everything.
