The Madison Civic Ballet was founded in 1992 and was the first arts organization to call the Madison County Cultural Center its home. As the young company began to grow in expertise, it attracted talented dancers from the greater metropolitan Jackson area and nearby cities, as well as Madison County.
The Company became loved and well known in the City of Madison for its performances of the "Nutcracker" and its annual Dinner Theater on the Cultural Center Stage, and soon began to receive numerous requests to perform for school and civic organizations around the state. The company toured to Brookhaven, Meridian and Yazoo City.

Services
Because education is an important part of the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet's mission, we continue to hold complimentary performances and conduct student workshops and lecture demonstrations for at risk youth and children who live in areas underserved by the arts.
Each year MMB has a commitment to provide meaningful educational experiences that contribute to the cultural development of Jackson-area school children, traditionally those underserved.Through a unique and ever-expanding outreach program and the continued support from the Mississippi Arts Commission, the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet has introduced the art of ballet to over 15,000 children since the beginning of this program in 2000.

Tuition and ticket sales alone do not come close to covering the costs of bringing the magic of dance into our community. As a non-profit organization, Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet depends on the support of friends, patrons, and benefactors for financial operation. Financial support also comes from grants and fundraising projects undertaken by the Ballet Guild and Board of Directors.

We've had an excellent experience so far with a teacher (Jennifer Beasley) who was able to
really understand our child, his needs, and how to best approach teaching him when he was frustrated/embarrassed about not remembering movements. He had an encouraging and uplifting experience and we can't wait to start dance again this year!

My daughter has participated in the programs offered by Mississippi Metropolitan since she was 3 years old. She loves being a part of the programs available. She is now a part of the Company and dances each year in the professional productions Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet produces each year. The staff is extraordinarily talented and provides each of the dancer with a great foundation. I would recommend this studio to anyone looking for a place for their child to dance.

Our daughter danced with Mississippi Metropolitan Dance Academy from age 3 through her senior year in high school. MMDA and Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet offer the best ballet training available in the state of Mississippi. Dancers learn solid ballet technique, have numerous local, regional and national performance opportunities, and are prepared to pursue dance opportunities beyond the pre-professional level. Through membership in the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association/Regional Dance America, the company and its instructors are held to high standards for technique, choreography and performance
