There isn't an industry that doesn't rely on sheet metal fabrication in one capacity or another. A dozen different processes or more can transform a sheet of metal into nearly any three-dimensional product. When it comes to sheet metal fabrication, the big three are steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
We have the metal. Not all steel is alike. In fact, there are more than 3,500 grades of steel. Each grade is determined by the amount of carbon in it, the alloys it contains, and the way it was processed. These steels contain 10-20% chromium, giving them the quality for which they are named: stainless, or highly resistant to corrosion.
Stainless steel has a minimum content of 10.5% chromium, which gives it its unique quality of resisting rust, corrosion and water stains. Its nonporous quality makes it easy to clean and sterilize, making it ideal in the health and food industries. And while its strength goes without saying, stainless steel remains malleable enough to transform into any shape.
