Iron Workers Local 27 Joint Apprentice Training Committee
Skilled Ironworkers are developed - not born. The skill of the all around Journeyman Ironworker is not acquired by a few months on the job, or merely by being in a place where the different job operations are being performed. The officers and members of Local 27 take pride in providing our employers with a highly skilled, well trained and drug free workforce.

Ironworkers Local 27 and the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) say education is key to maintaining a highly skilled workforce. The "glamour" of the construction trades is the Iron Worker, particularly the Structural Iron Worker. Clambering around narrow girders at dizzy heights, Iron Workers have the most dangerous jobs in the building trades, requiring great courage and skill.

What is Organizing? The common term for a group of workers looking to join a union is "Organizing." Workers organize for various reasons, be it to improve their working conditions, increase their pay or benefits, and/or to create a better working environment.

The American Promise is that if we go to school, work hard, and become a productive and faithful employee, we can then expect to support a family, raise and educate our children, enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life and retire with dignity. We weren't supposed to have to win the lottery, or be a corporate executive to enjoy the American dream.
