First Stitches Sewing Store and Quilt Shops are locally owned and operated in Southern Colorado, offering sewing classes and qualified sewing machine sales and service. The story of First Stitches began in 2011, when owner, Kimberly Smith, purchased four Baby Lock sewing machines and traveled to various locations, teaching beginner sewing lessons to individuals of all ages.
Recognizing the community's need for a sewing center and repair shop, she decided to sell Janome Sewing Machines in a small space in the back of a bookstore in Canon City, Colorado. Within a few months, however, customers insisted she needed more space. So in the spring of 2013, her husband purchased a charming circa 1934 brick building on 4th street.

Orders typically ship within 2-5 days and are shipped everyday except Saturday and Sunday and major holidays. Orders are shipped USPS Mail or UPS Ground. Great store with great people. I bought several sewing machines and I'm very satisfied with the service I received. Everyone is very helpful and Randy is not only very knowledgeable but also very dependable. He tries very hard to finish the repairs as soon as possible. I'm glad the second store is in Pueblo since I recently moved in Pueblo West.

I have been a loyal customer since I moved here two years ago. I purchased a machine, took several classes, bought fabric and notions. I even supported them during the pandemic when small businesses were struggling. Recently I took my Juki in for repair. Two weeks and $75 later, Randy tells me he cannot repair nor get parts for brands they do not sell. Why wasn’t I told this before they accepted it for service and charged me $75? After taking it back for a one on one with him, he again told me he couldn’t repair it and is unfamiliar with Juki. I don’t expect something for nothing but I also

Love this shop! I get all my thread, stabilizer and other notions here for my embroidery projects. GREAT customer service. Kim & Randy are very knowledgeable and have helped give me guidance several times when I was having issues with various projects. They were very patient with me and I appreciate that very much. I love the personalized service I get and have also enjoyed the online classes, too. I cannot recommend First Stitches enough!!
