Pella Concrete Contractors, Inc. was founded in 1967 by Nelson Bogaard. It began as a two person operation with a pickup truck, homemade trailer, and a used Bobcat skid loader. The company's main focus at that time was pouring residential concrete for local home builders, including basement floors, driveways, garage floors, patios and sidewalks.
Gradually the scope of work shifted to include small commercial projects as well as farm work, which included feeding floors, confinements and pole barn floors. In the mid-to-late seventies, the company bought its first set of aluminum wall forms to allow it to construct concrete basements for the same local builders that it had started with.
