My 20 plus years of professional experience and education have shaped my therapeutic philosophy. For those who are curious about my theoretical orientation, I integrate approaches from Relational / Interpersonal Psychodynamic models, CBT, DBT, ACT, and Solution Focused interventions. While I am happy to discuss theory, I believe these terms are often of little value and meaning to someone looking for a therapist.
You know grief is a natural response to loss, but you might not have expected to be grieving for so long. Grief Counseling can help. Each person has their own unique experience of grief. It is likely you are experiencing a desperate search for answers. You may be feeling abandoned and isolated, and struggling with overwhelming confusion, self blame, rage and guilt. You might also be dealing with the traumatic experience of witnessing a violent death, or finding the body, and dealing with police.

The loss of a child of any age is often referred to as one of life's most unspeakable events. Even if you've had other losses in your life, losing a baby is different and you may find yourself surprised at how you are reacting.
They can fill such a huge space in our hearts. When they are sick, you worry about them like you do a child. As they age, you begin to dread their passing with as much worry and anticipated sorrow as you might have for an elderly relative. Anticipating pet loss can be as difficult, if not in some ways more difficult than other kinds of grief.
