What started as a summer job for owner Paul Nicastro back in 1984 turned into a life long passion and career in service, repair, and construction of in-ground swimming pools. Working for an excavating contractor who specialized in swimming pools, he quickly fell in love with the trade and eagerly learned every aspect of it.

Back then, there were very few options for the consumer. Most pools were rectangular in shape and it was rare that the pool had a heater. Fast forward 35 years and just the opposite is true. Freeform shapes, spillover spas, energy efficient variable speed pumps, and automation are all commonplace. Now, it's very rare to service a pool without a heater, and although we still do some new installations, our main focus is liner replacements.

We have been using Albany Pool Rebuilders for years now. They have been opening and closing our pool and have replaced our liner twice as well as our rails and ladder. Last year we needed to replace the pump and motor since ours was outdated. The guys came within days to install it and gave us a demonstration as to the operation of the unit since it was an energy saver motor and pretty much ran itself. The end of last Summer our filter died on a Friday! I frantically called Paul at APR, and told him what happened. He had his crew at our house the next morning and installed a new filter for us.

I have used Albany Pool Rebuilders for several years. I have found Paul to be responsive to my needs. His price is fair. As a small business owner I know he is busy through out the day so I don't expect reply to my call or text until later in the evening, but he always responds to me.

After about 5 years of service from Paul of Albany Pools, I will not be doing service with them. They closed my pool in the Fall of 2016 with the work load to be closure and the replacement of the in-pool light. Apparently there was problems with the light, so my bill just said "see you in the spring" for the light replacement. Spring 2017 comes and I notify Paul that the pool is open and to let me know when they might be coming by. There was a twine rope running from one of the safety cover screws into the pool and thru the electrical chase to the box where the light hooks in. First time cleaning
