Services
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a newer technology used to aid in healing of various musculoskeletal conditions. Blood is drawn and then spun down, concentrating the layer with platelets. Platelets contain many different growth factors that foster healing and formation of fresh tissue. Currently there are many studies underway and our knowledge of platelet rich plasma will change in the future.
1 in 3 women over the age of 50 will suffer a fracture due to low bone density. The combined lifetime risk for hip, forearm and vertebral (spine) fracture is 40%- similar to the risk of heart disease. Up to 80% of those at high risk have already had a fracture and have gone untreated. People with low bone density do not have any warning signs.
Starting an exercise program can feel overwhelming, especially if someone deals with any chronic condition, such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol or obesity. It may be best to set a consultation to discuss managing the condition in the midst of exercising. Sometimes medications need to be modified if weight is lost or exercise helps to improve the condition.
