Services
Elder Law can cover a variety of legal topics concerning the retired population. What I specialize in is long-term care planning and asset-protection planning. I help individuals and families protect their most important assets from being lost to the high costs of extensive long-term care requirements.
Long-term care costs have the potential to wipe out almost any estate. In the Oshkosh area, the average cost of a private room at a nursing home is $9,591 per month, or just under $115,000 per year. This is the third-highest average cost in all of Wisconsin. And these costs are going up at about 4% per year, which means private nursing home rooms will top $200,000 per year in just over 14 years.
Whether you know it or not, and whether or not you've put any work into it at all, you have an estate plan. Yes, you do. The legislators of your state made it for you. You may not know anything about it, but you can be guaranteed that it is a "one size fits all" plan that will not account for any of your or your family's unique situations or goals.
If you have minor children, you need a will. There is no exception. Without crafting a plan for what happens in the event that your children are orphaned, you will be subjecting your entire family to in-fighting and chaos, and your children will be taking the brunt of it all. That said, having an expertly crafted will is not a daunting task.
Can anyone, even the most independent of us, say that they will never need help in life? No matter who you are or how accomplished you may be, you too can one day have a debilitating accident, or suffer an unexpected stroke, or slowly succumb to a disease of the mind like Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.

Mr. McCleer did an amazing job at helping my Dad with guidance for his future life plans to know where he stands with his finances, his home, his needs, and reassurance we were on the right path. Mr. McCleer is a very knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate person helping the family to maintain as much of the estate when Dad's life ends. I would like to publicly thank Mr. McCleer for all the assistance given in the process of making sure we were all protected and Dad would be comfortable in his new residence, too.

Joe helped guide us through the process for the last will and testament. He asked great questions that we didn’t think of. He compiled it nicely for us and in a way we can reference. Knowing that this is completed is a gift to our family and is a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. Should anything ever happen to me or my husband we know our girls will be taken care of. Thanks Joe!!

Joe did an amazing job with our Will. I had never worked with a lawyer before and had put off getting a "legit" Will done for years. Joe made the process so smooth and explained things to us in a way we were able to understand. I was impressed with how robust our Will was... I feel like we are covered for every possible scenario, and that is the peace of mind I needed as a parent of two young kids. What can be a heavy topic, he made fun :)

We are in our 70's and decided we needed to get this "will" and "trust" stuff sorted out. We attended a seminar that Joe presented, our eyes were opened, and questions answered. We followed up with a complimentary consultation with Joe. We found him to be a a very receptive listener and a quick study. We wanted to protect our assets, some of which are out of state. Joe came up with a plan for us that met our needs, and he was able to orchestrate the out of state legal matters in a very timely manner. We appreciate his friendly, but businesslike personality and his breadth of knowledge. He was able
