Many things separate Southern Shutters from other companies you might encounter. Since 1993, we have been offering Georgetown, Austin, Cedar Park, Lakeway, Dripping Springs and several other neighboring cities and communities with truly exceptional products and experiences simply not available anywhere else.
In 1993, Southern Shutters opened its doors in North Austin as Southern Shutters. We rented a building previously used to clean ball-bearings off Howard Lane and N. I35. The space was odd shaped, with cleaning vats built into the floor. Due to increasing demand, space quickly became an issue. In the early years, we relied on larger companies to supply us with raw shutter panels.
We place high importance on employing the most professional, knowledgeable people in both our showroom and manufacturing facilities. We also pride ourselves in hiring, training and retaining highly qualified and skilled professionals. In doing so, we have created the most friendly and proficient staff in town.

Last year we purchased shutters for our entire house . We loved them so much but had a slight issue with opening our windows to clean. I contacted Southern shutters and Mark the owner came out to access the issue. Mark identified the issue and made the correction immediately. I have never received better customer service. When they say that your shutters have a lifetime guarantee, they mean it! I would highly recommend this company to anyone considering window treatments. Their professionalism and friendly service is rare today. Thank you Mark and his team.

This place is the real deal! In 2019 we purchased 1 shutter for our office which has a signature arched window. Right after we saw the dramatic difference we quickly purchased another shutter for our dining room which you can see from the office (we wanted them to match). This year when we saw their COVID special we knew what we had to do. 3 more rooms later and we are so very pleased with our decision. During a remodel we had shutters installed in the Master bedroom and the upstairs loft. We have shutters in other rooms in the house. They did a fabulous job... no complaints though they had to navigate new floor installation, and other workers. I love that they sent a sample of the shutter color before they created them from the factory. Great product, factory staff and customer service.

I reached out to a number of companies for quotes for shutters and blinds for my new home. I ended up scheduling appointments with three for in-home quotes before I discovered Southern Shutters who I contacted for a fourth.
While the other companies were immediately responsive to my request for in-home consultations, it took days to get in contact with Southern Shutters through their website. I eventually contacted them over the phone and setup an in-home quote for the morning of July 12th, their first availability as they weren't willing to otherwise adjust to fit my schedule.

We had more shutters installed in our master bath a couple of years ago by the same company. So beautiful and blocks out sun and heat. The measurements were precise and I love the quality. Really adds to the beauty of our home. I wish more companies could deliver both such a quality product and excellent customer service to go with. It seems rarer nowadays.

We contacted Southern Shutters, Shades and Blinds for a large window we have in our family room. Chris Lovell came to our home and was Extremely knowledgeable about all of their products. We wanted 'black-out' blinds for the room since we have a lot of light coming in reflecting onto our TV. We are EXTREMELY PLEASED with the Hunter Douglas Honeycomb blinds we purchased !! We just had four automated, battery-powered custom shades installed for our large patio-facing windows. We were experiencing severe glare in our family room during the morning hours.
From sales- to installation- to remedy of a poorly performing shade motor, we were very pleased with everything!! We received excellent advice from Chris at sales, a quality installation by the Southern Shutters field team, and a visit/diagnosis/replacement of a poorly performing shade motor by the owner himself - Mark. I wanted to provide an update on a post I made last year regarding the service department and their lack of communication. To my surprise, during the Christmas holidays, I received a phone call from Mark E. He had read my review and wanted to call and apologize on behalf of the company. Mark stated he researched my work request and he was also very disappointed of what I had gone through and understood my frustration. It was very humbling to know 1) he personally read my review; 2) he offered a sincere and genuine apology; and 3) he offered to help offset some of the repair charges.

"Warranty" Not So Much
Great for install. Accomodating. However, they charged me $150 "travel fee" (I live in Georgetown) to fix an issue that was not related to misuse on my part. I spent a lot of money with them on their shades and blinds, so I am very disappointed. Being stellar includes reasonable, at minimum, if not excellent, customer service.

Southern Shutters was the most expensive quote but only by 5 to 10%. I spoke with the owner of this company and after that was convinced this was the right choice for a few reasons:
1) founded in 1964 and still a thriving business and family owned (vs. many other companies are franchises. And several franchises have closed locally and another franchisee started but doesn't respect former contracts

Mark and his crew did an excellent job from start to finish on our project. We had a rough idea of what we wanted to do, but asked for his opinions based on experience, and his advice was spot on.
The shutters are of great quality, made locally, and function flawlessly.
The one possible negative that I would expect someone to knock them for is the amount of time the process took (4-5 weeks?), but with something like custom shutters, is speed really what you're looking for? We're talking about window dressing, not an organ transplant.

I purchased my home in 2013 and the previous owner had shutters installed by Southern Shutters Shades and Blinds from Georgetown. The little screw that moves the shutter came out of one and I couldn't repair it myself, so I called the company back after living in the house for three years. I am extremely pleased with their customer service; a tech came out the next day and fixed it in a minute and he didn't charge me anything.

Too often only people with complaints will post reviews. I like to make a point of always recognizing superior service. This company deserves all five stars. From the showroom through production and to installation, every employee has been professional and helpful.
Questions were answered immediately. The people who came into my home were respectful and careful. I love the look and quality of my shutters. We had shutters installed throughout our home, which is a big investment. The quality is apparent and so adds beauty and value to our home.

Not sure why it's taken my so long to write a review, but I have nothing but good things to say about Southern Shutters and Blinds. The quality and fit of the finished product is amazing. We've now completed our whole house with custom plantation shutters from Southern Shutters and couldn't be more pleased with the final outcome.
