Sediment filtration is an essential tool in water treatment. Sediment can often be seen collecting in toilet bowls, settling at the bottom of a glass or collecting behind the aerator of a faucet. A sediment filter's main purpose is to help remove these particulates from the water supply. Sediment filtration is rated by micron size; the higher the micron the less it will filter (i.e., a 50-micron will filter less than a 5-micron).
Pleated filters are extremely popular when water has high levels of sand, silt and sediment. Pleated filters are washable and reusable (five micron and up), to reduce filtration costs. During the filtration process, a supply of water travels through the pleats of the cartridge and allows for greater collection of sediment and particulate due to increased surface area.

5 or 6 years ago I was very happy with Vitasalus, but I have no idea what has happened to them since. I bought a full house carbon filter and enjoyed talking to their rep, and did so on numerous occasions. Their customer service has since gone from great to nonexistent; you're lucky if you ever get a call back. The only time I got a call back recently was when I threatened to leave a bad review. Unfortunately I needed to reach out to them again on the same issues and did so several times with no returned calls. Additionally, their shipping charges are outrageous.

1) this is NOT NSFpw certified, so although it is heavily built it can be whatever plastic Taiwan uses
2) If it does not work well for you, the company (Robert) will honor their satisfaction guarantee. At least they did for me after some long emails.
Be aware that the directions need updated and leave out the following to work 100% You must:
A) have your water hardness tested, if it’s over 5 -7 gpg you MUST install your softener before the unit (not ideal)
B) you MUST install a check valve (do not trust any optional verbiage in the directions).
C) you Cannot

We bought a whole house water system and been using it now for 2 months now and I absolutely love the fact of not feeling stressed about my water. We have gas drilling all around us and had a uranium mill back in the 1930-1957 and our water sucks! So it smells clean no more chlorine smell and tastes clean and my mental status is much better knowing that I can fill a pot to make soup or pasta and not have to buy nasty tasting bottled water.
Our plumber set it up so god forbid something happens we can switch it back to city water so we always have water. And it was not a hard install.

My water pressure dropped like to 65% of what it was before their system was installed. I specifically asked Robert from their sales/service team if this would happen and he assured me we can a max drop of 10%. But this is not true. Another neigbor of mine is having the exact same issue.
Two people cannot even take showers at the same time or run your dishwasher or washing machine at the same time. I have changed the filter twice in less than 4 months and its still the same result.
