Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure used to correct problems with the small bones of the spine (vertebrae). It is essentially a "welding" process. The basic idea is to fuse together the painful vertebrae so that they heal into a single, solid bone. Spine surgery is usually recommended only when your doctor can pinpoint the source of your pain.
Constantly bearing our weight and subjected to every step we take, not to mention the sports we might play, it is little wonder that our ankles and feet often suffer as we get older. The foot has 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 ligaments which work together to keep you stable and moving, and if there is a problem with any of these, they can seriously affect your mobility.
Acute low back pain (LBP) is defined as low back pain present for up to six weeks. It may be experienced as aching, burning, stabbing, sharp or dull, well-defined or vague. The pain may radiate into one or both buttocks or even into the thigh/hip area. The exact source of acute LBP is often difficult to identify however this brochure tells you more about the cause and treatment of LBP.
Our hands serve many purposes. Hands help us eat, dress, write, earn a living, create art, and do many other activities. To do these activities, our hands require sensation and movement, such as joint motion, tendon gliding, and muscle contraction. When we have a problem with our hands, care must be given to all the different types of tissues that allow our hands to function.
The history of our practice, one of the oldest in the US, began back in the 1930s when Dr. Joseph C. Risser moved to Pasadena, California to begin an amazing tradition of extraordinary orthopaedic care.

Always a pioneer, the young doctor not only helped treat pain and illness but also spread knowledge by starting the Risser Orthopaedic Research Foundation, which made it possible for 52 young orthopedists from 20 countries to visit Pasadena and learn from him over a 22 year period.

I saw a doctor Pradhan there to go over the results of MRI's of my neck and lower back. He told me the report showed nothing wrong and that there was no reason for my neck and back pain. He suggested I might have fibromyalgia and to see a rheumatologist. NONE of my symptoms corresponded to fibromyalgia. And when I got home and read the reports, THIS is what they said. In regards to my neck: Multilevel uncovertebral degenerative changes are noted resulting in HIGH-GRADE left C6/7 and moderately SEVERE right C6 C7 neural foraminal stenosis. In regards to my lower back: PROMINENT narrowing of

I have seen the Drs Mostofi, Chriswell, Northrop, and Meyers.
The care I have received from them has been wonderful.
Today, I had the aggravation of speaking with Angela in the Billing Office. She has very poor communication skills, loudly speaks over the client/ patient, is flippant and arrogant.
If I were to base my opinion of Risser on her behavior, I would not be frequenting Risser.
There was a question about how I choose to pay Risser. She ignorantly told me not to worry, it is safe.

They opened at 9:00. I had a 9:20 appointment. I arrived at 9:10. Waited until 9:45 to see what the problem was. I was called a couple of minutes later and put into a room being told that the Dr. would be there soon. At 10:00 I felt my time had been wasted enough and left.

I think I may have a rotator cuff tear, but the doctor just gave me steroids, no MRI, no follow up. I can't get anyone to call me back and I'm in a huge amount of pain. I've called and left several messages for Wendy, Dr. Northrop's PA but I can't get anyone to call me back. Go anywhere else.

LEFT AND FORGOTTEN IN THE ROOM WHILE THE STAFF WAS LEAVING FOR THE DAY

This was the worst experience ever in my life at a doctor's office. First of all, it is extremely difficult to make an appointment at this location. When they finally reached out to schedule an appointment, Yvette, told my husband that I can either come in at 2:00pm or 2:45pm that same day. She advised him to leave a voicemail to confirm which time slot I wanted. When I arrived at 2:45pm, the receptionist informed me that I did not have an appointment scheduled for that day. I informed her that my husband received

Dr. Mostofi is by far the absolute best doctor I have ever been helped by. He very patiently explained my wrist break, the healing process, X-rays, etc. Every visit at his office is above and beyond pleasant from him down to his entire staff. I hope I don't break a bone again, but if I do, I'll be getting treatments done by Dr. Mostofi. Extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly service. Thank you so much!!

Dr. Myers is wonderful, he is patient and takes the time to listen. Which is why I ways spend a lot of time waiting. The staff are nice. My only complaint is they do not return calls in reasonable amount of time to me or my pharmacy. Last time I waited 6 week's. It takes a long time to get an appointment. Please work on that.

I inured by C5/C6/C7 disc; and was in horrible pain. These stories tend to be long soooo I will be brief

1) Front Desk..... 3 Stars - they just seem stressed and over worked.
2) Appointment Scheduling - 1 star - I was pushed back 1 full week
3) 1st Visit - 4 Stars - Dr. Prodham gave me my options; but it was somewhat worthless without the MRI. He ordered the MRI; and it is on-sight.
4) After MRI, schedule surgery ASAP; the herniated disc was clearly on my spinal cord and needed to be removed.
5) Prodham assistant - 4 stars - she was clearly overworked; but she did get back

I would highly urge anyone considering Dr Heinen and his team to go anywhere else. This team DOES NOT care about any of their patients. Especially the doctor himself. I was a first time patient and visited end of July for a possible torn miniscus. Came in for a brief visit where he wasn't able to view my MRI records due to an issue with the other company and was told to drop it off for his thorough review. I was prescribed a very strong pain medication which caused severe stomach cramps. I advised the staff and requested a substitute. The doctor never prescribed anything else nor did he follow

So incredibly disappointed. Went in for plantar fasciitis and was given the most scant attention possible. They took an x-ray of only 1 foot (not both even though I said that both hurt but that one was better than the other). Saw the doctor and was told I indeed have plantar fasciitis and tight calves and to stretch them out. Then he me a sheaf of papers and told me to follow those exercises. He didn't work with me to set up a plan to relieve my pain or problem or explain how to avoid it in the future. He made it perfectly clear that he couldn't be bothered to help me and was pretty

I decided to review Dr Ben Pradham after having to undergo additional spinal fusion surgery. The reason for the review is he came highly recommended by those who work in the OR @ Huntington & said he was the best, greatest.
My appointment was with Pradham @ the Verdugo Hills location (not sure if they still have this office as it seemed to be an after thought. I'm all honesty, it was a dated looking county clinic dump.) as it was nearly impossible to get an appointment in Pasadena.
Being an OR nurse and speaking with others who work in my specialty, I was hopeful the appointment would

After a severe foot injury in January and living in excruciating pain for months, I was referred here for pain management. I waited two months for my appointment day to arrive. I drove 1.5 hours from Leona Valley to get here for a 2:30 appointment. I arrived 6 minutes late. I was told I would not be seen as I was 6 minutes late. I explained that I drove 1.5 hours with severe pain in my right foot, which was excruciating. It didn't matter. They refused to see me. In all my years working in patient care as an RN, I've never encountered such a lack of empathy, lack of grace, and such

My Medicare advantage plan referred me to this organization. If I had a choice, I'd find another Orthopaedics provider. They have at least 2 dozen doctors practicing in this group. The doctor I was assigned was nice enough. Too soon to tell if he's a good doctor. My complaint is that the support staff doesn't like to answer the phone. They do not turn off their off-hours message on a timely basis. When you get through, message says they are busy and will call back when they can--don't leave another message. I'm still waiting going on 6 hours. Bad business practice to not

I highly recommend Dr. Cavallero - he did a commendable job with my daughter's broken arm. She broke both her left ulna and radius (forearm bones) from a snowboarding fall. He aligned her bones perfectly with surgically implanted metal plates. Within a week of her fall, he met with her for her pre-op and then out-patient surgery at Huntington Hospital. After 2 weeks, stitches were removed and no brace or splint were required. He aligned her bones perfectly and even took into consideration her left writing arm when he decided on the measurements and positioning of her plates. Thank you Dr

I recently had carpal tunnel surgery performed by Dr. Mostafi. In my 67 years I have never had such a positive experience during before, during and after a medical procedure. Staff is genuinely friendly. Appointment reminders were great. The office environment is upbeat and friendly, little wait time and navigates the Covid situation seamlessly. It is obvious that the staff enjoys working with each other. Dr. Mostafi is the best. (Check out his credentials) He explained the procedure. I had it under local anesthesia. I took Alleve while still numb in anticipation of postop pain and I am not exaggerating

It's really a bit of a mess. They are clearly heavily overbooking, which is annoying outside of covid times, and stressful during.

Came in for a basic appointment last week, sat in the waiting room with a bunch of other people for 45 minutes, and didn't see a doctor until about an hour past my appointment time.

At least there's plenty of parking in the back?

BE AWARE! This place is not recommended to anyone. I have had a very unpleasant experience here. They are NOT serious professionals. I decided to seek another practice!
If you have a PPO insurance I advise you not to use this place, and if you have HMO and this will be your first time here, THINK TWICE. I don't trust and I absolutely will NEVER come back!

The doctor was great however office is pure chaos. I have a POA for my elderly grandma who doesn't speak English however they didn't allow me to go into the appoint with her so I have zero idea what is going on. I've tried calling the office numerous times to see if we need to go back what she needs to do next etc etc and I haven't received a single call back. The worst part is every time I call I'm on hold for an hour. I even called the doctors assistant and left her a voicemail with no returned call. It's been three weeks and nothing. Very very very unprofessional

There are some good doctors here, but the office management is too often snippy and arrogant. I was a patient for several years before being told, while scheduling an appointment, that if I was more than five minutes late the doctor would not see me. I reminded the staff person that I had NEVER been late. Her response was, "The doctors are busy." I informed her that I am busy as well, and perhaps I should not see the doctor if he made me wait more than five minutes? I suffered a major ACL and meniscus tear in my right knee, and so a surgery was definitely needed. The people that work here at the Risset Orthopedic surgery center really took good care of me. Dr Gregory Northrob performed the reconstructive procedure and I have to say I don't think there is a person out there that could have done better. He took proper care and was always ready to answer any questions me and my family had in order to help us feel better about the situation. Not so much a friendly staff. Their smile seem a little forced. A lot of workers but very few working. I believe in always doing your best at whatever you are doing, I didn’t see that here.
