Dr Urquhart is not your stereotypical oral surgeon. Like many of his colleagues, Dr. U has an impressive resume of accomplishments and community service as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. Unlike many of them, however, Dr. U has a bedside manner that puts his patients so at ease that they actually enjoy their experience.
Dr. Urquhart received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1992 and has been a practicing oral maxillofacial surgeon for over 20 years in Colorado, the Great Lakes area, and in New Mexico since 2005. In 2015, he opened his own practice, Urquhart Oral Surgery, where he has a staff of five and serves adult and adolescent patients as well as children.

Services
Implants have become the standard of care for replacing lost teeth. We have been able to do amazing restorations ranging from a single tooth to an entire mouth full of teeth. Implants are freeing patients from continual periodontal issues, restoring complete biting force and function, and are superior restorative possibilities over root canal therapy and conventional bridge work.
IV sedation is a type of anesthesia we use to help you sleep, relax, and not remember the procedure. As an oral maxillofacial surgeon, we have extensive training in general anesthesia, deep conscious sedation, (IV sedation), and advanced cardiac life support. We do a detailed health history and consider your medications to ensure that the sedation is safe and there are no drug interactions.
Pathology can exist in many forms, from a very small, non-conspicuous bump or spot, to a large, expansive tumor in the jaw bone. All of these need to be evaluated and treated, or followed. We can do that. From a simple removing of a lesion on your oral tissue, to a resection of a bone tumor. We also have the capability to reconstruct the bony defect, place implants, and restore you to function.
Why do we take out wisdom teeth? The primary reason is inadequate space for the wisdom tooth to erupt and become a functional tooth that is easy to keep clean. Other reasons include: pain, existing infection, bone loss, decay, presence of pathology or a cyst, and damage to adjacent teeth. Do all wisdom teeth need to come out?
Botox treatments to improve the look of moderate to severe forehead lines, crows feet and frown lines. We also offer Botox as a treatment headache and muscle pain relief.
Dermal fillers to help smooth facial lines and restore volume loss to provide a more youthful, smooth, rested, and radiant look, to address volume loss under the eyes, the lines and folds around the lips, the parentheses lines and marionette lines, and of course, to plump the lips!

I have recently moved to New Mexico and had a dental issued that needed attention. Dr. Urquhart was recommended to me by a friend and he saw me immediately, evaluated the problem, suggested options, conferred with my other dentist and resolved the issue. I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Dr. Urquhart. I have the utmost confidence in him and will return.

As a female, this is first male dentist I've seen in several years that made me feel comfortable and like I had a say in my treatment, plus he answered all of my questions. The staff here is great too- from the receptionists to the hygienists and dental assistants. I was in and out for an emergent-scheduled, sedated surgery in less than an hour and a half.

I spent two weeks in constant pain due to an infection that my normal dentist failed to treat properly. However, once I made it to Dr. Urquhart's office, it was a breath of fresh air. Not only was he able to assess what was going on, he was able to do a procedure, right then and there, to correct my situation. I no longer have a piece of exposed, dead, jagged jaw bone destroying my mouth. I was in and out in under an hour. This is the oral surgeon I will trust with my care from now on.

First visit to Dr. Urquharts office and was totally impressed with the professionalism I experienced. Dr U thoroughly explained in detail what the game plan was for my upcoming procedure and left me with a sense of calmness that I don’t usually get from dentists. Lol! I will post another review once all my dental work is complete. Stand by......

I doubt I’m the only one here who dreads going to the dentist, but Dr. Urquhart has totally changed that for me. He is very calm and reassuring and will answer any questions you have. His team is amazing too! I recently had a tooth extraction, and I felt so safe. I would highly recommend him for anyone who’s a little nervous about getting medical care. You’ll be in great hands!

When I first started seeing Dr Urquhart, my teeth were in pretty bad shape. I’m so grateful Dr Urquhart agreed to stand by me through all the operations I needed. Now my teeth are almost back to normal, I only need a few more operations. Dr Urquhart is very thorough, with the most modern, hi-tech facility, and trained staff. The most important, everyone at Desert Mountain Maxillofacial Surgery are so friendly. There’s times I went in for surgery, knowing what was going to transpire, I was so scared. The friendly professional staff, as well as Dr Urquhart are so friendly. They put my heart at

I needed to have two lower molars that were caps, one on the left the other on the right.
The office is very welcoming and calming. I had a discussion with the Doctor and he explained the process and answered the few questions I had. Then the Doctor administered the local anesthetic first applying a topical anesthetic. He then took the time to let that take effect before the anesthetic. He took his time injecting the sites asking frequently how I was doing. He was very gentle and after injecting both sites gave ample time for the Anesthetic to take effect. Later he administered more anesthetic
