We are located in Pendleton County, West Virginia near the highest point of our beautiful mountain state: Spruce Knob. We are approximately 4 miles from Spruce Knob Lake. We are situated directly across from the Experience Learning entrance (Woodlands Way). There are many outdoor activities to do in the area such as hiking on nearby trails, biking, boating, hunting, and fishing!

Go down under and explore this natural cave filled with awesome stalactites and other cool features! Tours are guided and there is a great restaurant on site as well! Just an hour away in Pocahontas County is a chance to take a fun ride with the family to the top of Bald Knob! One of West Virginia's hidden treasures- this cave is very close by and is popular for ones who like to explore!

Great campground! We stayed here for a week in August to try and catch the Perseids shower. The campground was so well maintained and the owner, Eber, was one of the nicest people I've ever met! I highly recommend checking this place out. We will fit sure be back!

We camped at Back Ridge Shadows for a night to hike Spruce Knob. The location was perfect and very close to the mountain!
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us maps of the mountain, and let us borrow heavier stakes for setting up our tent.
The bathrooms were also very clean. Overall a great spot to camp if you’re in the area!

We absolutely love this beautiful and secluded campground! We stayed for the first time last weekend and we'll definitely go back. The campground was clean and well set up for both RVs and tents. The owner is so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

We stayed here the weekend of July 4th. I cant recommend it highly enough. It is in a PRIMO location in the Monongahela National Forest area. It is a few miles (3-4) to Spruce Knob Lake. It is quiet, small, clean and it has FULL HOOKUPS. Apparently there is AT&T service, but we have Verizon and got nothing. We planned ahead for the kid with the electronics addiction and downloaded some movies, otherwise, we are good with no cell service for a few days. Eber, the owner is SUPER nice, friendly and helpful. We did the Seneca Creek Trail and Spruce Knob at sunset. Both trails were a short distance

We were directed here after finding out that Spruce Knob Lake campground was full, and I am glad we did! The owner is very accommodating and kind. Ice and firewood was available as well as a nice spot to set up a tent, clean water, a nice firepit, and clean restrooms. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend this location.

Great place, great and super helpful and friendly host. Stayed their two nights over the labor day weekend and it was problem free. There's an electrical outlet for each tent. There's also a toilet.

Back Ridge Shadows makes a good overflow location for Spruce Knob Lake campground, which tends to fill up in the summer.
Back Ridge is a family run campground close to Seneca Creek trails. Its very friendly owner and manager greeted us with courtesy and gave us good tips on the area. The campground was quiet and clean when we visited. Some might find the tent area small. Dog friendly.
