MIS Joint Replacement offers important advantages, requiring smaller incisions and potentially causing less trauma, shorter hospital stay, faster recovery and less scarring than traditional techniques.
The orthopaedic surgeons at the Southwest Michigan Center for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine treat disorders of the bones, joints, and muscles. The team of highly skilled surgeons will help you recover from a wide range of injuries and conditions. We do this through cutting edge techniques, the most up to date technology and customized, patient centered care.
The goal is to provide the highest quality of patient care. We pride ourselves in hiring qualified, experienced therapists and staff who listen to the patient's specific goals and concerns. The therapist creates a customized treatment plan specific to the patient's needs and goals. For many patients, one of the primary objectives is pain relief.
Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which parts of an arthritic or damaged joint are removed and replaced with a metal, plastic or ceramic device called a prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to replicate the movement of a normal, healthy joint. Several conditions can cause joint pain and disability and lead patients to consider joint replacement surgery.

Mistakes made, and my health put at risk, in order to avoid admitting them. Half truths, and lack of understanding the immediacy of an infection based in getting me in there to address it, 2 weeks out isn't acceptable. I had to demand to see another dr., who only said, "There is nothing I can do for you today. "
Many more mishaps. I believe the God-complex may be an issue at this office. I'm highly disappointed and disheartened, and still not done with fixing the wrongs a year later. Bring an advocate with you is my advice.

Took my 85 year old mom for knee and ankle pain on December 31. Nurses were ok. Dr. Sohn - totally abrupt. Maybe he was showing off for the students he had in tow???
Made mom climb up on a flat table and then - "turn this way, lift your leg, sit up, lay back, lift you leg again" with NO help except what I tried to step in and give her... Unbelievable!
She got shots in both her knee and ankle.
By the time I got her home not only did her knee and ankle still hurt, her back was killing her from all the gyrations.

Could not talk to a doctor without taking an x-ray. Not very friendly. I don't understand how they know what to x-ray without looking at the injury.

Slipped off a stepladder and broke my fifth metatarsal in my left foot, a spiral fracture. My experience at Southwest Michigan Center for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and with Dr. Sohn has been nothing but great. The staff is very friendly and helpful, wait times have been short and Dr. Sohn has been very informative and has a great sense of humor.
