Discover Diving is one of Buffalo's oldest and most respected professional diving center. The business was started by Dallas Edmiston who has been teaching diving in western New York since 1974. The retail store opened in 1992 and today is operated by his twin brother, Darryl Edmiston.
Rounding out the family end of the business, Dallas' wife Linda is also a highly skilled instructor while Darryl's wife Marian helps out with many of the business operations.Together, with the assembled staff of instructors, divemasters and assistants Discover Diving has grown to be one of the premier dive centers in the Great Lakes area.

For some, the desire to explore longer and deeper is a drive that can't be resisted. NAUI Technical Dive programs offers training for divers on mixed gas diving with helium, extended range diving below 130 feet and extended dive times utilizing RGBM decompression protocols. These course all require considerable diving experience as a prerequisite, but when you're ready Discover Diving provides technical training in the courses listed below.

Discover Diving has the most local dives, pool availability, regional trips, and international trips... even other events on the shore and in the shop. They were very flexible on scheduling my certification classes and dives. The owner and staff are very helpful and they stand behind the equipment that they sell. There's always something to do and they make sure there are good times to be had. Of all the dive shops that I've been to over the years and around the world, this one is the best.

There are many dive shops out there to chose from. However, if you want a personal, attentive, responsive shop with knowledgeable, and supportive staff, Discover Dive is your place! In 2021 I decided to make use of a certification I received in basic dive from another dive shop years ago. I hadn't been in the water for years, so needless to say, I was a bit anxious. They make you feel comfortable and provide you with the knowledge and practice of your skill set to feel comfortable enough to move throughout your dive schooling. FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND AMAZING TEAM
The team makes you feel at ease and they all are extremely friendly. I dived for the first time yesterday with my friends. At first, I was scared and almost didn't go in. But Darryl and his crew made sure I felt safe. Once we got in the water, this became one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I even went ahead and got escorted to the deepest part of the pool, which was awesome!! can't wait to do it again :)

The team at Discover Diving are amazing! My wife and I are going for our advanced diving certification and going on our first deep dive we were nervous! We struggled at first but they made us feel very comfortable! They never once pushed us to keep up with the class they stayed with us until we were able to complete each lesson! Every instructor at Discover Diving is very knowledgeable, kind, patient, understanding of your limits!! Highly recommend checking out Discover Diving you won’t regret it!!

Amazing staff and teachers, highly recommend to anyone who is interested in learning how to dive. Its very obvious that every employee at Discover Diving is passionate about diving and is willing to help you progress your knowledge & skills in any way.
I recently went through their Advanced Open Water course and had the pleasure of finishing my training dives on a trip to Bonaire. We experienced a wide variety of dive sites from ship wrecks, coral reefs, and night dives. We had a lot of fun as a group whether it was on land or under water. Awesome dive shop! Had a great year with this crew in 2020. Thanks Darryl, Marian, Kelly, Jay, Dave, Gary, Nick, Scott and everyone whose name I forgot.
2020 was a rough year but Darryl and his team put in a heroic effort to make it a good year for diving. We had a bunch of great trips up to the 1000 Islands, some local boat dives in Lake Erie and the Niagara River, Osprey charters, and social dives in the River at Isle View Park. Their dive training is top-notch. Science of Diving and Diver Stress and Rescue are great courses. Wreck Diving and Deep Diver were a good time up in the St Lawrence

One of the best dive-club, dive-shop, & dive-certification center in WNY. Over the past twenty-five years, I have participated in many scuba trips and earned multiple certifications. Discover Diving organizes many trips each year locally, nationally, and around the world. The Caribbean, Galapagos, South Pacific, Philippines, Honduras, and Micronesia are just a handful of the past trips. You get to experience some of the best diving in the world with a group of great people. You can't ask for better team of instructors for beginner to expert certifications who have decades of experience.

Nice staff for the most part, decent prices. Any diving questions you may have they can answer with super accuracy! they are very experienced and know what they are talking about. Safety is also thier number one priority when in the water.
