We reserved a table for 2 people. Ordered our food when we first got seated. Waited an hour for the starters. Then, we are on hour 2 and finally got out food. 3 tables of people have come and gone. The 3 groups consisted of 4-6 for each. Absolutely ridiculous. To think I liked going to this place.

Great selection of PA beers and the food is something to write home about! For any Brits missing comforts of home the scotch eggs are for real (bring your own brown sauce but also good served with spicy brown mustard)

I ordered food Togo. A burger well done. I got home and it was medium rare. All and all their food has been pretty good regardless. I was just disappointed that they were not very accommodating about it because I didn't have time to go back and return it. They needed to see the burger in order to do anything about it. I understand that because some people lie to get free food. I took a picture of it and told them I could bring it in the next day. They didn't want to accommodate. That's the only bad experience. I did get a phili cheese steak the next time and it was good

Wish I could review. Looked like a great beer menu but when we went in with our 20 yr old son we had to leave. 21 years or older. This would have been good to know before driving 30 minutes to get there.
I have since seen the explanation of their policy on the website. May I suggest updating your google listing so this important exclusion is noted.

This is one of the best small town restaurants I’ve been to. Great beer list. Great prices on drinks. Everything was house made. The thousand island dressing on the burger was amazing. I went two nights in a row while traveling on business. Looking forward to when they brew their own beer! Good luck Nick! You have an amazing place and I look forward to coming back.

Stopped in to Lock Haven PA for our first time ever. Was recommended by the Hotel staff.. Had the dinner special. It was great. Also had a couple of beers from a deluxe menu of PA beers from around the state.. All cold in fresh glasses.. Perfect end to a long day of cross country driving. Well worth the 5-10 minutes from the interstate, and a must if staying in town!

My personal favorite spot in town. Excellent selection of craft brews, great service and delicious food. We especially love their seasonal menu like octoberfest or st. Patty's day.

It's important to make reservations especially with the covid restrictions. To enter you must have a mask and you take it off as soon as you are seated.

If you like great beer, food and a clean atmosphere I highly recommend you check it out!

Beer was really good and great variety. Hot corn dip appetizer was great. I had chicken cordon blu. It was good and the pesto fries were drenched in pesto. Portion sizes were huge. Hubby had fish wrap and it was really good and stuffed full. We will 100% go back when we're not on such a time crunch

Today (8/11/2020) was my fiancé and I's first time at the Broken Axe and will not be the last now that I know I can get in with my power wheelchair. Our waitress was amazing! I'm picky when it comes to drinks so she asked what I liked and picked the perfect cider for me. I usually don't let someone else pick my drinks in case I end up not liking it, but our waitress picked Helen's Blend and it was perfect. For lunch we tried the Hot Corn Dip (10/10) as our app, I had the Broken Axe cheesesteak with the Beer Cheese Bacon Fries (9/10), and my fiancé had the Lumberjack Burger

The first visit but by far the last. All these years living here and never went because someone told us a wheelchair could not enter. Well today we decided to walk in to find out. The waitress Phoebe B was more than accommodating. She promptly showed us the back entrance and seated us quickly. She overheard the discussion of what drinks sound good and she inquired us what we liked. After we told her she brought us samples of each and we ended up with a tasty cider which was mighty cold if i may add. We put in our orders and waited what seemed only minutes before the appetizer was brought out

Awesome atmosphere, great selection of a little over 20 local PA beers to choose from. They also have a Mug Club that offers specials to members, well worth it. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable about the beers on tap, and occasionally hold events where they tap something completely new for patrons to try. Highly recommend this place for anyone who likes different beers.

My aunt who goes here almost every week took me to this place while I was visiting.
She definitely goes here for a reason.
You can get free samples of any of their beers on tap, and their food is sublime. If you are part of their club, they throw really neat events with beer included. Extremely cool and nice people, and don’t allow anyone under 21 in their restaurant. Thank god.

Visited Saturday evening. Very busy, loud, and lively. Was only 5:30pm and the place was packed. Food was outstanding. Service was understandably slow. It definitely is more of a locals place than a college bar. Which is a nice change of scenery from the rest of the local bars

I stopped here for dinner while staying in Lock Haven for a work trip after reading the Yelp reviews. There were a handful of booths filled when I walked in so I took a seat at the bar. I was instantly greeted and given both a beer and food menu. I ordered a cup of the chicken tortilla soup which was full of corn, beans, tomatoes and chicken with a nice little kick to it which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also selected the steak fajita wrap which came with steak, green peppers and onions all wrapped into a flour tortilla. It was decent, the steak was a little tough to chew but it had a great flavor

What a wonderful place! My friend and I had the Broken Axe Cheesesteak, fish tacos, chili soup, and their homemade caramel toffee bread pudding. Please save room for dessert! It's so worth it! The cheesesteak was pretty good. The steak was chipped with no gristle like you may find in other cheesesteaks. Fish tacos looked simple and I was told it was pretty good. The chili was decent. The dessert was the STAR of the show. We were so full but managed to finish the entire thing. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe this sinful creation! The beer selection is superb! They bring

I love this place and visit any time I get to Lock Haven, PA. Quite a nice selection of local craft beers here (21 PA craft beers at all times, 1 non-PA beer), live music often, bar snacks, and a full menu. What is not to love?

I only wish this place existed when I was actually living here. I can't fault them for not getting there sooner. The mug club is a cool thing, and I would join it if I lived closer. Their beer flights come in a very cool saw-like board, an homage to the local logging industry that put Lock Haven on the map.

Cheers, Broken Axe, keep up the good work!

Food good and beer is good. I was disappointed today. Unless your a regular with your mug you'll be staring at the ceiling. The bartenders only talk to you when your beer is gone. Disappointed being I was gonna be in the area another month.

I will say the food and beer saved this review when I came in. The service here was not really the best. Took a while to get a order in sitting at the bar. I do understand that it was trivia night so it get la a slight pass. Would I come back absolutely.

So great to see a place like this open up in town! Large selection of local in-state beers on tap and customized flights are a draw for any beer lover. We only stopped in for drinks and snacks but I've been told by multiple people that their burgers are also a must try.

As for the snacks, they're displayed in jars along the wall and are offered at a very reasonable price. We snacked on peanuts and cashews and spent $6 between four people and there was plenty leftover.

They also have a mug club which involves a yearly membership fee that entitles you to your own ceramic beer mug,

LOVE the Broken Axe and always stop in during my visits to Lock Haven. Nick does a great job of maintaining an interesting and accessible rotating draft list--all local (including Yuengling for those who want something more mainstream). Food is solid though as other reviewers note--not a huge menu. Service is always quick and friendly.
