Dr. Ashutosh Kaushik comes from Delhi, India and earned his Bachelor of Dental Science degree from the Government Dental College, India. After completing his dental school in India, Dr. Kaushik moved to Chicago and continued his studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where he earned is Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Carmen V. Graves is a Board-Certified Periodontist and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Graves is passionate about Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery and is committed to providing excellent periodontal and implant treatments to her patients.
Our experienced and knowledgeable staff is here to be your personal liaison through endodontic, periodontal, and implant dentistry services. We couple top quality technology with caring dental specialists to ensure you get exceptional treatment including root canals, implants, perio-maintenance, and much, much more.
Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan may require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.
We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day. We try our best to stay on schedule to minimize your waiting. Due to the fact we provide many types of dental services, various circumstances may lengthen the time allocated for a procedure.

I had a great experience with the team at the South Loop Dental Specialist office. Dr Jamal Flowers, was professional and also very laid back, as were the dental assistants and the office staff, everybody there was easy to talk to.
Dr. Flowers was thorough and explained the procedures with great detail. He performed the procedures with efficiency and they were painless. After the first visit, I felt more comfortable and confident with each successive office visit.

Dr. Flowers and Angie were an amazing team! Very efficient, extremely professional, calm and took care of me very well. They were both very knowledgeable and patient with me. I have had a lot of dental work done and am terrified of the dentist. As a former procedural nurse, I was very impressed. They will see me again for further tooth concerns.

I had an emergency with my tooth while visiting my daughter and her family. My daughter called her dentist to see if they could fit me in. They weren’t able to fit me in however they contacted the dental practice next door and they got me in that same day! The staff and DDS were fantastic! They talked through all of the procedures and explain exactly what needed to be done! Dr Olguin and his assistant were phenomenal. I really dread going to the dentist , but they put me at ease. My wife, LInda, needed a root canal. She was able to get an emergency appointment the same day she called. Dr Flowers was very clear explaining the process to her and was extremely gentle during the procedure. His assistant Angie was kind and made LInda as comfortable as possible considering Linda is paralyzed on the left side. When Linda experienced some discomfort a few days later she called the office to talk to Dr Flowers and, although he was at home, he called her to discuss her concerns and reassure her this was normal. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of communication and care demonstrated by Dr. Flowers and the South Loop Dental Specialists staff. Root canals aren’t typically walks in the park, but Dr. Flowers and the dental assistant made the experience pain-free and bearable. Also, as a Black woman, it was nice to have a health professional who is knowledgeable of racial/ethnic differences in the presentation of certain dental characteristics.

Dr. Flowers doesn't have magic powers, but he is an expert in his field, he's transparent, and has a great bedside manner.
Dr. Flowers performed a root canal for me in 2020. I had pain off and on for a couple months and my practice didn't find any issues. Fast forward a few months and I was back in Dr. Flowers office in excruciating pain. Turns out I had an infection below my crown. Dr. Flowers talked me through the options and ultimately cleaned the infection, at no cost, and sent me home. Sadly there were issues with the pain killers he prescribed but I got them 48 hours later and was already

The staff is friendly and professional. I felt as though they all understood my psychological discomfort. Dr. Flowers is warm, caring, honest and he's very good at his job. He does have that great bedside manner that you want in a doctor. I am not someone who is comfortable with dentistry - however, this office is exceptional. He listens, analyzes and then performs the work that is needed. I was so happy to have this as an option for root canals and other needed services. Yes, I do recommend them.

Just finished up my visit at South Loop Dental Specialist with Dr.Ash. I was referred by my general dentist for a root canal. I called at 7:30 this morning for an emergency appointment because I was experiencing a ton of pain, and I was seen at 11:30. Rachel was amazing in assisting me. The office staff and assistants were very pleasant and welcoming. Leslie kept me informed throughout the entire process. I had anxiety going in but Dr.Ash was amazing during my entire procedure. My procedure went so fast and smooth it was almost unbelievable. I would highly recommend this practice for your dental

Of all the dental offices I’ve gone to over the years between the Midwest and West Coast, my experience with South Loop was more exceptional than all the others combined. I mean this genuinely! Went in for Gum Surgery yesterday with Dr. Graves. It went very well. Asked me the whole time if I felt any pain. Very patient and professional. Her Assistant is also a Gem! Answers all questions and gives that little bit of "Extra" that makes you feel comfortable, if that is even possible in a dentist's office.
And if that is not enough Dr. Graves herself called me in the evening to see how I was doing. Who does that anymore?
Highly recommend them for any Periodontal Work you may need done!

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Olguin & the office staff. I was referred to his office by my dentist Dr. Ozzie Smith since I was previously told that I should get my wisdom teeth out under anesthesia. At first I was discouraged because they couldn't schedule me for a consultation until over a month out but I was patient and I was glad that I waited. South loop dental....may be good and I respect each person's review but "Dr. Flowers is unjust" he did a exam on my tooth for pain said.. I needed a fill in for the crown issue,he performed it. I had more pain,A while later.Dr.Flower denies doing it,when he did.At least see your verified patients to see. Not good business and I don't write reviews,normally,but for unjust practice, Dr.Flowers I will, However, I support good work and people just not my experience.

I came to the office for a consult for possible root amputation as my tooth with root canals had some problems. He recommended not to go through with surgery and I very much appreciated the honesty. However, I was charged $126.00 simply for the short assessment. I arrived with copies of previous xrays/CT scan so I had no scans performed at the office. The full standard fee they list for this evaluation was actually $231.00. This provider was in network and

This is my second experience with the office and both times they were the same only the second time I left without seeing the doctor. Note: Dr. Flowers is great at his craft maybe not so great at managing an office
No.1 expect to wait at least a 30-40 mins after your scheduled time and during covid expect to be put out of the waiting room (which has no one is in) and into the hall with everyone else who was told to come up but when they got there the room wasn't ready

I always am scared to see the dentist, especially tooth extraction, till came to this place where is recommended by my friends. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I experienced an unbeatable toothache, then came to here. Dr. Flowers met me and explained why I have to extract tooth instead , he is very nice and polite. Then Dr. Olguin did the oral surgery for me, extracted my wisdom tooth and decayed tooth, and will do implant surgery after 4 months healing time. Dr. Olguin is very skilled and experienced, during my whole surgery, I did not feel any discomfort and pain. He always explained the details

I have a fear of the dentist so I was clearly upset that I even had to be there. Dr. Flowers explained what was going to happen that was fine I have had a lot of dental work. I explained that I would probably be crying most of the time it's not something I can control. When he started to work I started to cry, his exact words " you are going to need to settle down, you know I have my staff staying late to work on you". Really I believe you have your staff staying late because you are getting paid by me and Cigna.

I've gone to South Loop Dental Specialists twice over the last 10-years and both times they have been amazing. I saw Dr. Flowers each time and he was nice, professional, on time, etc. And when I was having an emergency, they fit me in within an hour to help me out. If you're like me and hate everything about dental work, they make it as good of an experience as is possible.

I had such a great experience here. I needed a root canal ASAP and they were able to get me in quickly. They explained and showed me what they were doing and kept me updated the whole way. I hope I don't need another root canal but I'd definitely come back if I needed to! Everyone was very kind and welcoming.

Avoid at all cost! Omg wow don't get me wrong the dentists are great but they will charge for even breathing in that office!! They canceled my appointment because the dentist was unavailable and no one deemed important to inform me the patient! Unbelievable!! I showed up only to be told to come back next week! Never again

I had a root canal this morning with Dr. Flowers and Marilyn. After hearing horror stories about root canals, I was a little nervous, but ready to be out of pain.
The whole experience was great and I would highly recommend this practice. I appreciate that they went over the cost up front. I also appreciate that I felt absolutely nothing beyond the novocaine shots.
They were efficient and thorough. Another reviewer mentioned the metal clamp around the tooth and the numerous x-rays as negatives. The clamp was attached to some rubbery material and kept all the rotting tooth gunk out of my mouth

I feel that the nurse and doctors care more about money than patients' best interest.
1) took unnecessary x-rays. I was referred to there to evaluate a tooth that has a temporary crown, whether it needs root canal. I already took two x-rays by my current dentist for that tooth, but once I got this place the nurse immediately wanted to take x-ray. She said i have to take one now, they don't have it in their system, i can make a call later to query the previous x-rays (what's the point?) and my previous dentist place clearly said they send it over and I don't need more x rays

Very nice dental specialists office! Came here for a gum grafting (for receding gums) and was very pleased with the care and service! Everyone is pleasant and really makes you feel comfortable.
The office manager is such a strong component of this office. She sat down with me and talked about the timeline for each of the appointments and exactly what insurance would pay. She did such an amazing job in laying out everything that was needed and expected with the timeline.
Technology here is advanced - you're able to confirm appointments via email/text. You can also email the specialists individually

I visited Dr Flowers office upon a reccomendation from my dentist and I found out he was in my network and less expensive than my doctor for a root canal.
I arrived at the doctor's office and the inital exam everything went well - and they reccomended I come back for the root canal.
I talked with them to understand what my full payment would be to better understand the cost I would have to endure for the procedure and they assured me the exact cost.
During the root canal they put a metal clamp around the tooth for the procedure which irritated my gums at the time a lot - but the numbing

Came in for a my post op and was told I'd be in and out. Well, 5 minutes later, I was OUT! This office doesn't play, whatever expectations are set, they meet and exceed with no hesitation!
First timers, you may be hesitant due to location and the parking situation. Let me put this to rest... Find street parking and get the Chicago Parking app on your phone, pay pursuant to the expected time they give you and if you need to extend, do so. Von every visit, I've parked right in front for no more than $4 per visit and I've only had to extend my time once during surgery.

So I'm scared of dentists more than I'm scared of clowns (which is a lot). I had to get a (long overdue) root canal done and was referred to Dr. Jamal Flowers. Turns out he was in the same clinic as Dr. Olguin, who I had gum surgery with about 10 years ago and was very pleased. Dr. Flowers was the nicest and patient dentist I've met in a long time, and was not only technically proficient but explained things very well and left me with a clear understanding as to what's next in the dental plan for me. Everyone in the office was great. And I didn't have the typical panic

Dental surgery is never fun - but this place makes it as painless as possible. I had gum surgery wtih Dr. De'Avlin Olguin, and he was absolutely wonderful. He was super nice throughout the process - he was super patient and answered all my questions, and was thorough in giving me all the information I needed. He even called me on a Friday night and gave me his cell phone number in case I had any post-surgery issues or problems. I saw my regular dentist about 2 months after my gum surgery and she said Dr. Olguin did such a great job on my gums you can't tell I had surgery.
