In the spring of 1978, Dr. George Wade had a vision: to start an orthopedic practice specializing in Sports Medicine. In 1978, after completing a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in southern California, Dr. George Wade moved to Boise. His surgical practice began with the help of Dr. Richard Gardner, Idaho's first sports medicine orthopedist and the original Boise State University team physician.

Returning to sports after ACL surgery requires time for the new ligament to mature and get strong. In addition, muscle strength and power and neuromuscular coordination need to be restored. Each of these factors may need at least 9-12 months to be at relatively safe levels. A fourth factor, the psychological readiness to return to sports, can often take longer than the 9- 12 months.
Although we do help take care of the BSU teams, we see a wide range of patients. We also treat athletes from regional high schools and colleges, along with professional and Olympic athletes. However, most of our patients are individuals from the surrounding region who are involved with recreational and/or fitness activities.
If you have an injury after hours that does not require urgent care, please call our office in the morning and we can schedule most acute injuries to be seen by a physician within 24 hours.
