As the premier skilled 99-bed nursing facility in Bakersfield, California, San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation provides compassionate and personal skilled care 24 hours a day. Located across the street from Bakersfield's largest hospital and in the heart of the medical corridor, we are the first facility in Kern County, CA working with Non-Invasive Ventilators.
Our nursing department provides excellent care combined with dignity for our residents. Professionally staffed around the clock, we give your loved one comfort and specialized care. Each of our residents comes to us with very different and specific rehab needs. Our entire rehabilitation team is committed to creating individualized therapy programs that directly answer those specific needs.
The staff is what makes a successful Facility- my mom is here full time & even though no one can take care of your loved one like you can- the staff here is very attentive - especially the director of Nursing! When my Mom was sent here for rehabilitation she got great care and although my mom can be very difficult the staff was very patient and encouraging.
Our nurses work with each resident's family to create a comfortable environment including simple routines and visual cues as a positive substitute for diminishing mental processes on a case-by-case basis. At San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation we seek to maximize the quality of life for our long-term care population, who require a specialized restorative program.
Our experienced rehabilitation team is committed to providing outstanding results and excellent quality of care. San Joaquin may not be fancy but the people really care. I once heard a seasoned CNA say to a new hire "How would you feel if it was your mom?" She wanted to make sure the new gal new they treated people like family there. I saw other CNAs singing and playing oldies on the guitar to the ladies. You should seen the way these ladies lit up.

It is unfortunate that a review like this needs to be written but I want to ensure that no one puts their loved one through this level of neglect. The place is not maintained and is poorly managed. Patients are ignored to the simplest of needs such as getting a question answered or daily necessities like keeping hydrated are dismissed. During a visitation another patient who was not my relative needed assistance in front of a worker and he was ignored. The Checklists that they have set themselves for their standards are not followed. My relative had the same clothes for almost a week despite us

My grandma got worse once she was put here, to the point were she had to be taken to memorial hospital due to their neglect. She was dehydrated, malnourished, unmedicated, injured and unable to speak. the consequences from my grandma staying here have shorten her life and she is currently battling to survive. don't take your loved ones here don't be fooled.

Don't let the high star ranking fool you. Most good reviews are from the lazy employees who work here. They're very neglectful and don't even follow the stated protocols. In terms of hygiene the rooms are dirty and they don't even shower or change patients. An employee even lied about how healthy the condition of my family member was, claiming therapy made him ''never want to sit down" and that they're "aways walking around." Despite this claim, when we visited my family member could barely even stand up before the employee made him sit back down.

Do not bring your loved ones to this nursing home!!! If you look at their website, all of the pictures are fake. None of them were taken at the actual facility. the only few pictures that they have are from the hallway which is the only thing that was remodeled. The actual rooms are filthy and old. In regards the the actual service that they provide: The staff is rude, the whole room smells like pee, there was old food on the floor. Worse management I’ve ever had to deal with… The entire STAFF is a JOKE!!! no regards no comforting for anyone… They will make you sign papers for your loved one to get thrown into a COVID unit left alone to DIE…. No there was NOO indication of sickness other than already being at the end of life…. Yet we had to witness our loved one get thrown into this room and even though they said Hospice had more care… DONT FALL for it!!! They will straight abandon your loved one… I finally

Was hesitant to bring my grandmother here, but I’m so glad I did. All the staff has taken such good care of her and I see a huge difference in her overall health. She is stronger and healthier looking than how she was at home and at the hospital. She tells me the staff treats her like family and even makes her feel at home. I recommend this place to anyone who needs the extra care for their loved one. They really are hands on and very experienced. Plus they just remodeled the whole building and it’s very clean and modern looking.
