Open Door Community Health Centers was founded with a vision to provide excellent health care and health education to an underserved part of California, at a time when the region suffered from a shortage of access.

Starting as a single clinic in 1971, Open Door now has 12 community health centers across Humboldt and Del Norte counties - a service area larger than the state of Connecticut - serving more than 55,000 patients a year and employing almost 600 members of the community.
Open Door was founded in 1971, with a vision of providing high quality health care and health education to a rural, underserved part of California, at a time when the region suffered from a shortage of access to health care services. Open Door was born from the efforts of local community leaders and volunteers in Arcata.
Zoom is a free video conferencing app that can be downloaded and installed on a smartphone, tablet or computer. When you reach out to schedule your appointment, it is helpful to let staff know ahead of time if you are requesting tests or medication. Your safety is our priority. If your provider needs to see you in person, your care team will let you know ahead of time.
Open Door Community Health Centers provide health care and education to residents of Humboldt and Del Norte counties and surrounding rural areas. Family practice services for all of your primary medical needs, including diagnosis, treatment and referral for more advanced care as necessary.

We provide diagnosis and treatment for acute illnesses (such as flu, colds, aches and pains, fatigue) and chronic conditions (including diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, emphysema).Routine health screenings, immunizations and boosters, and lab tests are provided as appropriate. We work to help you with disease prevention, health maintenance activities and ways you can take care of yourself.
Young children should be seen often for immunizations and well-child examinations (our pediatric providers can explain the best schedule of visits). Older children should be seen for routine check-ups every year.

Almost all Open Door locations have doctors and advance practice clinicians who serve infants, children, and teens, carrying out routine health screenings, immunizations and boosters, well-child examinations and treatment for acute, simple, complex and chronic conditions for established patients.In addition, Del Norte Community Health Center, Humboldt Open Door Clinic, in Arcata, and Eureka Health & Wellness Center have dedicated pediatricians.
