The roots of Elevatus go way back to 1958 when a handful of architects set up shop in Fort Wayne, Indiana. That young firm soon became Schenkel & Schultz, known throughout the region for its amazing body of work and longstanding partnerships. Over the years, we've continued to grow and reach new heights.
Following a 2015 restructuring, we even changed our name to Elevatus (el-ah VAH-tus) to better reflect the elevated principles we hold dear. Today, we continue our tradition not to design just for the sake of designing. We design with you and your business needs in mind. We make sure our designs, however unique and innovative, always reflect our clients' vision. What's more, we see that every architectural solution we provide takes into account the impact of initial building costs as well as lifecycle and operating costs, thus sparing our clients any unwanted surprises.
Visioning - working with clients to determine or understand the vision for the environment we'll design. Master Planning - evaluating long-term options for anything from accommodating the eventual need, to expanding a building's functional components, to determining how an entire downtown area might grow in a logical fashion as needs arise.
Our focus isn't on the buildings we design. It's on the people we serve. By striving to understand not only their facility needs but also their business needs and their vision, we're able to create sustainable environments for every client-environments that will meet the demands of future as well as current market drivers.
A lot has changed in the field of education over the last 50 years or so, and especially in the last couple of decades. The architects at Elevatus have witnessed much of it. Not only that, but we've played a significant part in facilitating change. Over the years, we've designed learning environments to accommodate every new advancement in education.
We excel in creating secure environments that stand the test of time. Our projects range across the entire spectrum of the criminal justice process, which means we design everything from courthouses and jails for state and county clients, to state and federal prisons. In particular, we are sensitive to the ever-changing needs of the corrections industry and consistently provide architectural solutions that address its most pressing concerns.
