Central Berkshire Psychiatric Service PC
Central Berkshire Psychiatric Services (CBPS) is a private outpatient psychiatric practice located in the center of Pittsfield, MA. Mental health treatment is provided by Jeff Doshier, MD to clients ages 18 and older. As a private practice, we are not affiliated with any hospital or other mental health agency.

This means that we can work with clients to develop treatment plans that are tailored for each individual without the need to report to a larger institution. This also means, though, that this is not an appropriate treatment setting for all clients as many people will benefit from access to a wider range of clinicians and services.
Services
Services provided include diagnostic evaluations, management of psychiatric medications, individual psychotherapy, consultation and second opinion evaluations. We provide treatment for illnesses such as depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and help with dealing with the loss of a loved one or major life events such as divorce or illness.
Visits start with a phone call to the office. During that call, we want to hear a little about the reason you are considering an appointment, the kind of treatment you are looking for, and insurance information. If it seems like we can be helpful, we will schedule an initial consultation. During the initial visit, I will gather information from you, review any records you might have from prior treatments, and answer your questions.
I do not over-book or double-book appointments. For this reason, it is important that you give as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule your appointment. Cancellations and reschedules made with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a $50 fee. Cancellation without notice (no-show) may be subject to the full amount of the visit.
TMS is an exciting approach to treatment for depression that is now available in Berkshire County, and only offered at Central Berkshire Psychiatric. A device is used to hold a magnetic coil near the head and delivers pulses that stimulate nerve cells in the part of the brain that controls mood. The stimulation of these cells causes changes in the way that part of the brain functions, which leads to reduction of depression symptoms.
At Central Berkshire Psychiatric, we use the state-of-the-art MagVita system by MagVenture. A probe or "coil" is held securely near the front left part of your head. This is over the area known as the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. A series of magnetic pulses are produced by the coil that penetrate into underlying brain tissue and lead to the discharge of nerve cells.
