Distrust of post-2007 engine technology, combined with tough economic conditions and higher engine prices, has increased the demand for overhauls, the granddaddy of truck repairs. Given typical costs of $20,000 and more, it's critical to make wise decisions about them. Mileage alone doesn't say much about the need for an overhaul, although engines with 750,000-800,000 miles should start getting closer scrutiny.

Older diesel engines (pre-common-rail), only use about 12 the fuel pressure modern engines do, and older injectors send the fuel through much larger passages.

I was traveling to Tallahassee to meet a friend. As soon as I got there I had a problem with my diesel pickup. After getting it towed to two other shops that couldn’t fix I found Donaldson Diesel. They promptly found the problem and fixed it. I found them to be professional, knowledgeable and most importantly honest. I appreciate these folks so much.

We had the misfortune of breaking down in a little town south of Tallahassee. We did some research and found Donalson Diesel. Robert and his staff have a brand new facility in Havana and our tow truck driver knew exactly where it was and agreed they were the best in the area! Robert worked me in on a Friday and had Ford Excursion back to running like a top again! It’s rare in these times to find an organization of any kind that will help someone from out of town like this. I wished I lived here as they would be my go to place for diesel work. These guys are great! I brought my truck in after others couldn't do anything with it. Even though they were in transition from moving from old shop to new shop, they still we're committed to getting my truck fixed. It took a little while, but my truck has never runs so good. Thanks Robert, now I feel safe going home to Montana.

On a recent trip in n. Florida I had a water pump go out. Reviews of diesel shops nearby showed only Donaldson with great reviews. I called and spoke about getting my truck repaired, explained I was on a trip and need some help. Mr Donaldson was very pleasant and said they would try to get me fixed and back on the road. After getting towed, they had my truck fixed. I appreciate that they took my truck in in front of others. Loaned me a vehicle to get some lunch and my truck was ready when I got back. Good price and great service. I would recommend them to anyone.

On vacation I had an overheating problem with my 05 LLY, I originally called them looking for a part I believed to cause my problem; Robert informed me I was naive for believing something I read online. After getting to his shop he proved me wrong and replaced a few components I was unable to do away from home. This is a man that didn’t require my business but squeezed me in so that I could safely make it back home without jeopardizing the health of my truck. My daughter and I were hauling a horse trailer from Florida to Illinois when our F250 started to sound funny at 5:30pm. Started calling around and alot of shops were closed or said they couldn't help. Luckily found Donaldson's and they said come now and we will look at it. We made it there and they diagnosed the problem quickly, found the part for us and fixed it. Cost was beyond fair and especially with the emergency work! So very grateful we found them. Thank you!
