Nixcavating is a Longmont based and family-run company founded by owner Scott Nix in 1982. He started the company with a broken backhoe and a determination to work for himself, and over the years, he has acquired some very valuable project management experience, a large heavy equipment fleet, and priceless personnel.
We currently have around 25 employees, with nearly a third of them being with Nixcavating for almost a decade. We take great pride in the outcome of our work, and our ability to overcome the inevitable obstacles that arise during any construction project. Our Project Managers and Job Supervisors do their best on each project to ensure they get the job done as best, as quickly, and as cost efficiently as possible.

Nixcavating has been providing quality excavation, underground utility, and site preparation and grading services along the Colorado Front Range for over thirty-five years. We all know a solid foundation is the most important part of any project. Without properly compacted soil or appropriate sloping and water runoff mitigation, natural settling or weather elements can ruin property and structures. Our experiences with the many different types of soils throughout Colorado help us to ensure we are able to give you a sturdy base to build upon.

I have dealt with Nixcavating several times on different jobs around my small farm. I hesitate to write a great review simply because I want to keep them to myself! But they deserve the best review I can give, so 10 stars to these fine folks. They are attentive, fair, thorough, honest, and they always make sure that I am 100% satisfied before they finish. You will not find another company of this type that is better than Nixcavating.

WOW, We had a water leak at the Bar L Motel so I needed the ground opened up and leak fixed very quickly. I would usually make all the arrangements and align the subs and city myself, but Nix said they would do it, 'Turn Key'. WOW, they were prompt, they had the city out on time, they did the underground utility location, they dug, repaired, ordered fill, covered and compacted. Professional and Quick. Thank You! We have a very limited access to our backyard, when a fire destroyed the garage Nixcavating came in to demo the garage and remove the concrete slab. They expertly maneuvered several large vehicles on the narrow drive to get the structure demoed with no damage to the drive, fence, or landscaping. The heavy equipment operators were impressive at getting the structure and slab completely down with limited access!
