Formerly, one of the largest herb farms in the Midwest, Carolee's Herb Farm offered fantastic herb plants, perennials, and annuals plus a lovely gift shop and dozens of display gardens. However, the farm has been sold and is no longer a retail business or available to the public. Books can still be ordered from this website's on-line store. Please take a few minutes to explore our Web site and read the numerous articles on gardening and herbs. You can also view photos of the farm's past and its former gardens.

The range and textures of colors of herbs is amazing. From deep green curly parsley, graceful slender chives, fuzzy scented geraniums, and glossy silver thymes the visual combinations are endless. They do not rely on flowers for beauty. 2. Herbs are easy to grow for the most part. Of course, sage, lavender, and thymes need little water, while basil, chives and mint need lots.
Carolee's Herb Farm is excited to open our new on-line store! We've selected some of our unique and most popular items from our Big Barn Gift shop to offer on our eassy-to-shop, secure, on-line store. We hope to be able to make more items available in the future, so check our home-page often for new additions!
Visitors are welcomed to stroll through over twenty display gardens during regular business hours. We encourage you to take notes of favorite plants and combinations, or to photograph butterflies feeding on our blossoms. Every week, new plants become the stars of the garden and the picture changes as the season progresses.
From the earliest spring greens until the final turnip is pulled, the Cook's garden is an ever-changing feast for the eye and the palate! The raised beds are packed with color and texture, as well as taste. Visitors will find tiny alpine strawberries, tender lettuces and heirloom tomatoes next to flavorful herbs of all kinds.
While I am often dismayed at articles or public gardens that tout "Bird and Butterfly" Gardens, the Hummingbird is one little gem that can co-exist with Butterflies. In most cases, birds like nothing better than a Butterfly Garden, since it quickly becomes a buffet for them where they can devour adult butterflies, defenseless caterpillars, and egg clusters.
