Stovall Associates
At Stovall Associates we provide counsel and represent our clients in a positive and professional manner to best meet individual needs. This uncompromised dedication to our clients is what sets us apart from other law firms. It also allows us to achieve the results our clients have come to expect.

Stovall Associates is a specialized law firm started in 1978 by James Wm. Stovall with the primary objective of providing quality representation to our clients. This basic tenet continues today as the cornerstone of our practice. The firm has been located in Eagle County for over 30 years and has developed a solid transactional and civil litigation practice representing local, national, and international clients.
Services
We represent both buyers and sellers in the preparation and/or review of purchase agreements, title documents, closing documents, common interest community documents, closing coordination and dispute resolution. We also provide legal services related to leasing, transfer assessment exemption requests, deeds and tax appeals.
We represent plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation in both state and federal courts. Our attorneys pride themselves on strategic and efficient representation utilizing the vast amount of resources available in the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

We are familiar with the local judges and the practice standards of the Colorado courts because our attorneys routinely go to court to advocate for our clients.
Estate Planning is the process of setting forth your wishes for distributing your assets at your death and utilizing strategies such as tax planning, methods of minimizing administrative costs and protecting your assets in order to ensure that your wishes are carried out to the fullest extent possible.
We counsel our clients on all aspects of business law, from deciding what type of entity to form in Colorado, to drafting the entity's governing documents, to helping resolve business disputes as they may arise. Many clients choose to hold title to real property in a business entity and our attorneys are well-versed in that regard.
As construction defect lawyers we regularly represent individual homeowners, general and sub-contractors, community (townhome and condominium) associations, and commercial property owners. Our attorneys are highly experienced with the nuances and requirements of Colorado's Construction Defect Action Reform Act ("CDARA") and have extensive litigation experience for both construction professionals and property owners.

Critical: Professionalism, Value
Did not have a good experience working with Jim. Found him to be rude, deceitful, and blatantly exaggerated his billable hours.

The staff at Stovall and Associates is very knowledgeable and kind. Long time locals of the Vail Valley, Jim and family share an intimate relationship with the happenings around Eagle County. Experts in real estate, construction, and lending.

I have used Jim for legal consultation since the 1980's. He has helped me with a number of real estate issues and his advice has been extremely helpful.

I personally cannot recommend Stovall and Associates due to the poor quality of legal services I received. I feel that I paid for one of the associates to email people with a cadence that drove no call to action on any parties part, but generated healthy billing.
I talked with Jim about this and he seemed very defensive and unwilling to listen or review the quality vs. Billing I was told that I reviewed and approved letters sent, but candidly I pretty much wrote them and they slightly revised and put on their letterhead. Iis their job to write a meaningful letter that has legal merit and approve

My husband and I met with Jim Stovall to revise some will documents. We sat with Jim, and he chatted about the process, his hobbies, etc. with us. He let us know that the process was simple, and it would only require a couple hours of their time. He continued to say that if it would need more than that, he would let us know. I was leaving the country, so we stressed the importance of getting it done relatively quickly (he had 5 weeks to revise our will--a standard form). We didn't receive a follow up until I asked about it, and then before we received ANYTHING, we were sent a bill for more than
