Harbor City Psychological Associates was founded in 2004 with the goal of providing quality mental health services to individuals and families in our community. We are a locally owned and operated business and have a strong connection to the community in which we work, live, and play. We offer services to clients from Northeastern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin.
Our goal is to provide personal and professional services which are easily accessible, convenient, and delivered in a timely manner. As seen on "Getting Help Getting Better" Paul Goossens, MA, LP, a licensed psychologist with Harbor City Psychological Associates who has worked with clients of all ages and a variety of mental health problems, starting each of his conversations with an invitation to seek and accept help.

Services
At Harbor City Psychological Associates we provide a wide array of clinical and psychological services to meet the individual and specific needs of the individuals and families with whom we work. Our Duluth Psychologists and psychotherapists provide psychotherapy for all stages of life. From children to the elderly, marital and couple counseling as well as family counseling, we're here every step of the way.
Adolescence is a time of significant challenges and transitions for both the teen and his or her family. Harbor City Psychological will provide clients and their families a professional and experienced resource to accurately identify the nature of these challenges and engage in appropriate treatment interventions to achieve successful outcomes.
I conduct ADHD evaluations for children age 10 and older, as well as adults. Evaluations consist of a thorough review of history and functioning, review of pertinent school and medical records, and conducting psychological testing. Typical evaluations occur over 3 sessions, plus a feedback appointment.
Generally, referrals are not required to obtain mental health services. HCPA will assist in obtaining referrals if required by your insurer. You can help by letting us know when your insurance company or health plan requires a referral or prior authorization for specific procedures. If you have questions about referrals, call your insurance provider for information and assistance.
Employee Assistance Program Services (EAP): Many employers offer EAP services to assist their employees in responding to personal or family difficulties. Please contact our office to see if we are a provider for your specific Employee Assistance Program. Employee Assistance services often differ from traditional mental health insurance in that they are short-term and time limited services that have no co-pay or deductible.
