For many years, it's been our goal to offer the very best products we can find. Along the way, we created the tastiest takeout bar on the Avenue, expanded our international aisle to accommodate a variety of tastes, and ushered in the Bay Area's obsession with fresh, seasonal, local food. We also stock the foods that your kids will eat.
We never forget that we're a full-service grocery store; we stock cleaning supplies and paper goods, cereal and baking products. We even stock canning jars in the summer for those customers who want to preserve the fresh taste of the season's produce.

Services
We're famous for our meat department, where you can buy a slice of bacon or a slab of beef. We place an emphasis on meat that is organic, grass-fed, free-range and comes from local farmers. Our seafood department pays attention to sustainability and watch lists, and our customers know that if they want a particular kind of seafood, and it's available, we will special order it for them.
Our Wine and Spirits department has a little bit of everything to please all of our customers. We have all the regulars-from less expensive to top shelf, plus obscure and hard-to-find items, artisan, and small batch spirits and liquors. We feature unique sparkling meads, artisan ciders, international and craft beers, and seasonal ales.
Piedmont Grocery would like to save you time in the kitchen. Whether you're grabbing lunch for the office, throwing a party, or planning a holiday feast you can count on our chefs in our Catering Department to help simplify your entertaining. Everyday Catering Menu has a delicious selection of lunches for the boardroom, a gathering of the club, or feeding the team.
We carry a wide selection of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, fresh caviar and, depending on availability, truffles. Our chocolate selection is extraordinary and constantly changing. We tend to favor the locals, including Lulu's Toffee and XOXO Chocolates, which make exquisite little melt-in-your-mouth truffles.
Somewhere over the course of the last 50 years, the demographics of Oakland changed. Our customers began asking for certain products, so we began to add these new foods to our International Aisle. Our British expats know that they can pick up what is an acquired taste for many-vegemite. We have German egg noodles that seem to fly off the shelves.

I love Piedmont Grocery. It manages to maintain the very best of old fashioned grocery stores...courtesy, and not just habit, but they really enjoy their customers. The clerks have been there a long time, are glad to help you, and the prices are not too much higher than Safeway, sometimes lower. You come out feeling like you've contributed to a neighborhood store, a union shop, had a pleasant experience, and gotten exactly what you came for. Most often more! Their hot foods are expensive, delicious, and I almost always succumb to temptation.

A true destination. Not just a grocery store, but a place to explore. I found some delicious Kosher Matza ball soup, it is not Kosher for passover, but there are over 300 days to eat it.
The flower selection is pretty good and the roses are going on 4 days and looking perky.
The bathroom is average, so much better then safeway, and most of all I was thrilled they had one, I wouldn't have made it.
The meat counter, is a real counter. vast and pricy. You get what you pay for, so it's worth a try or 2.
Cheese cabinet has enough varieties to put together a cheese platter many times over

First off, the staff is really great. Everyone is very helpful and friendly without being intrusive. My real five stars though, is for the salad bar and the hot food. When you want to grab something quickly, this is the place to go. As fast as getting something from 7-11 but a million times healthier and at a fraction of the cost of Whole Foods. For those special occasions, they have a rack of fancy ice cream that you wouldn't believe, high end stuff out of my usual price range.

I love local grocery stores. They have so many delights packed into this small footprint. I'm here weekly for the vanilla Tillamook yogurt for the hubby. In addition to the yogurt this week, I got a container of chicken livers (organic) and came across a little block of cheese to sample.
Stuff is a little more than Safeway but worth it. Nice variety of items you not find at a chain store. And, they have their salad bar back. Wow!

I have not been inside Piedmont Grocery for a good long while. They've kinda rearranged the setups and checkouts. Still the great assortment of gourmet dry goods and prepared foods. The salad and hot bar is back. The entrees were out at 9:30am when I arrived. Plenty of free parking in the lot too! The staff are forever helpful!

Step back in time when hands-on owners really cared about quality. You'll pay more, BUT you save in the long run. The produce guy is obsessed with freshness; I have never tossed out overly ripe or damaged items.
Who does that any more?
The butchers are old school. They will cut, chop or slice any way you want your order. Order any items in advance.
You will see the prepared food and cheese folks refreshing their areas with
purpose.
Their check-out clerks are always kind. They pack the food thoughtfully and will offer to help carry out your bags.

Wonderful grocery shopping experience. The last time I was at a grocery store this great I was living out-of-state in Texas and shopping at H.E.B. if that helps anyone. Excellent meat, produce, and dry-goods. I didn't get any dairy items, but that section looked well-stocked and high-quality too. I especially appreciated the wide assortment of bottled sauces, jams, honey, and other less common items. Checkout was fast and the store staff was friendly. I'll definitely be back again.

We alternate between grocery stores, and Piedmont is a regular stop for us. Their selection leans toward higher quality products. We love their meat dept. - you can taste the difference between the filet mignon they sell and the typical mass store beef.
They carry good bread, including the hard to find Oakrun Farm crumpets. If you appreciate Meyer lemon curd on those crumpets, they also have the superior Ms. Erle's jarred brand, which is as good as homemade.
The cheese dept., although not as gourmet as Market Hall, straddles the line successfully between a Safeway cheese dept. and Market

The pastries are good, i bought a loaf of bread for $12.50 without realizing it until I got home. They also over charged me for a pastry I never got. I called, and they will refund me for the pastry but when I asked about the bread being so pricey the woman I spoke with had total attitude and said
" that's how much bread costs, it's costs that to make it"
not at Acme or Semifreddys but whatever I would be ok if their bread price was advertised and not hidden, and also if she didn't give me attitude.

It's my first time doing some grocery shopping at Piedmont Grocery. I keep seeing all their sponsored ads on Facebook. What convinces me to check out this business is they have hot soup (4 different soups each day) and a hot bar.
I did not know they have a parking lot in back of the store. The front entrance facing Piedmont Avenue is the exit door. Okay, I have to walk around the corner and down the block to reach the entrance. I know the next time I come here with my husband I don't have to look out for street parking.
I would have bought

Love this little grocery store nestled in Piedmont! They have my favorite Barsotti Lemonade which many places don't.
My only dilemma is I purchased some organic fruits (raspberries and blueberries) yesterday and when I go to make my smoothie this morning, they are molding already.
These 6 oz containers are $6.39 each that's +$13 for fruit that's molding and gone bad.
I know organic fruit has a short shelf life but I shouldn't have molding fruit the day after purchase. Please check your produce before purchasing!!! Piedmont Grocery please do better QC on your produce please

I don't have a proper typical shopping experience at Piedmont Grocery to share, but this is the only local grocery store that carried wines from Free Range Flower Winery when I was looking for them and they were sold out online. I cleaned out half their bottles of marigold wine in one sitting and also spotted Rombauer on my way to checkout which is probably one of my favorite chardonnays ever. So way to go, Piedmont Grocery, for looking out for the small local businesses and making their stuff available!

This market is few blocks from us and it's a lifesaver. It's not the least expensive place but it's a jewel. The meat and vegetables are wonderful. Fantastic wine selection as well. Friendly staff and wonderfully curated items. The prepared meals and salads are fantastic. To top it off, it has it's own parking lot. Aisles are a little narrow but that just means they've packed as much goodness into their urban footprint as they can.
Love it.

I love this grocery store! It's not very big but it has a wide variety of products available. Also, they also offer shopping hours for the elderly and they sanitize and clean the carts regularly.
I like the ready made meals for those lazy nights! I also like the wide variety of candies available!

A little pricer than a Safeway, but I love having this community grocery market in my hood!
// Highlights
- I love meat, and there is a HUGE meat selection here. Like every cut of beef. No neighborhood market I've frequented has had close to this number of selections. This is the spot to go to for meats. If you find the right cut of meat, the price can be fair too. I went recently to buy pork ribs, and the butcher did an awesome job prepping it for me and even recommending a barbecue sauce. We talked beef for a few minutes. I KNOW, I love meat, ok?

I love living near an awesome neighborhood grocery that has a local yet gourmet vibe. I stopped by a few days ago- prepare yourself for a line as the employees practice social distancing by gradually letting folks in. Some notables I grabbed were the garlic butter, Acme sweet batard loaf, some Beecher's handmade cheese (OMG so good), turkey pastrami (to die for). Yep- some key ingredients to the

Nowadays, going to the supermarket is always a treacherous tale I wish I would never have to tell.
Let's be real. If you've tried grocery shopping in the past couple weeks - you know it is no understatement to say IT SUCKS. I dread it! I never thought I would say this, but with the lines that can span blocks at certain supermarkets, a short line and my sanity is worth the slightly higher prices.
We visited the East Bay to drop off some groceries for family and get our car serviced. We tried to go to the Trader Joe's nearby the car place, but the line was CRAZY (blocks long even

This great little local grocery store packs an awful lot under it's roof! Large local beer selection, a full service butcher and seafood counter with conventional and grass fed/organic meats, and fresh salad /premade food bar along with freshly delivered bakery items round out the store for one stop shopping. The hidden gem is their cheese department- samples of their deliciously naughty housemade dips and spreads such as bacon cheese spread or creamy chicken entice you to buy several for pre-dinner snacking, lunchbox veggie dips, and midnight munchies. Also you can find flashback favorites such
